Reintroducing myself ... last summer I traded my 49 Plymouth Special DeLuxe for a 1964 Polara. The Plymouth was pretty complete with the flat 6 and I had added dual headers and two 2bbl Webers. The Polara is really rough. There was not a single system that wasn't missing or rusted away. I have rebuilt the 383 60 over, rebuilt a $75 Carter off of Ebay, patched together the wiring harness that was in the trunk, and put in a new cooling system. The car started on the first try after rotting away for the last 25 years. I have also welded up most of the body rust. I just bought a dual master cylinder and will start fabbing up lines soon. Other challenges: no fuel tank, no rear window, windshield cracked, floor rotted, no interior (I have two race buckets I bought for $50 to go in), no brake lines, rear end unknown, transmission unknown), paint is poor, tires are leaky and dry rotted. Current Challenge: getting the push ****on trans to work.
Looks like a fun project. I accidently became the owner of a 68 road runner back in 77, and that is a long story in itself. Of all the engines I have ever worked on the big block Mopar is the best and easiest to work on. I ended up making the roadrunner into a bracket car and ran it for several years. It was so consistant that you could put anybody in it and it would run the same. We won a lot of money in that car. I went out to Beaver Springs last fall and had a ball..
