I was gonna just run it like this for this summer and paint it in the winter but I love the way it looks like this with the dents and scars so if I can find the right thing to put on it I will leave it like this. To me it has alot of character like this and sometimes I think paint changes the cars look and not always for the better. I know it's not for everyone but I absolutley love the look the car has now.

I have never heard the stinkbug look, that's funny, I love it. Maybe I should call my car the Stinkbug.

I have heard there can be adhesion problems with some clears.
Also think that clear epoxy might yellow.
I have had real good luck with Nylac over bare metal pieces.
Great looking 5 window by the way!

Drove the coupe home today. Rode and handled awesome. Best hour drive I have had since last summer. Can't wait to put lots more miles on it this summer. Love the job Henry did. Can't believe this cool car sits in my garage.

    Photoshop addict strikes again.

Great car! Couldn't help myself but had to give it a slightly shorter haircut - just for kicks.

Haha, photoshop is harmless and lots of fun. With photoshop you can eat your cake and have it too. But yours looks perfect. Love it as it is.

I would be carful about using an oil to protect the metal as it will be a dust/dirt magnet.
Also try to stay away from anything with silicon in it as it will be ***** too remove before a paint a job .

Hey Bigbang. I been using Gibbs on my RPU for three years now. It works good. There is No silicone in it. It does not leave any residue or stickiness. I like it. And it does not stay in a heated garage. 010.JPG Here's a picture of mine . Bob..........

Really like your chop. Mine is close to yours. I've used Gibbs on the bare metal roadster customer cars I've built for the last 10 years with no negative feed back about paint sticking at a later date.

I used to have an RPU that was bare metal with a matte clear coat. Looked pretty good and lasted for many years.

I would go the Gibbs route and you will not have any problems, just need to apply it at least once a month. You could shoot it with a clear coat with a flatting agent in it and that will take the shine out of it.

Thanks everyone for the tips on using Gibbs. Henry gave me a can of what he has been using while my car was in his shop. It's from Rad Rides by Troy. It is body shop friendly same as the Gibbs. I am going to try this and see how it works.

Beautiful car...........now please set your camera so it stops putting a time/date stamp on the photos and ruining them.
