I am looking for a wiper system that I can mount temporarily on my 28 RPU. Does anyone have any ideas where I can purchase a 12v kit? Tim

at your local boat sales place,, One wire, switch on unit, chrome or red, yer choice.
are you doing it to be legal?

or to have a wiper? >>> Use RAIN-X as instructed you will never need wiper 'cept for "the man" If he says "it needs to be mounted", tell him its hidden Just like on new cars, then pull it out from under seat ant mount it,
    Only take a minute
    Easy-Peasey !!!

  3. He probably needs wiper for inspection. That is what it sounds like.

hard to guess as we have no idea where he is and this is his first post.

Thanks for the quick answer, I purchased the RPU in Cali and am going to drive it back NY via Canada. They will only be fitted when I get some real rain as I have already smeared the gl*** with Rain X.

Yep it sure is my first post. Have read much over the last year though. Wiper inspection is not the issue at this point. Just looking for a good quality part that someone else may have had a good experience with.

Good idea, Rain X is worthless in a down pour. At least for me it was.

Do you already have ONE hole in top of windshield? Boat wiper only requires ONE hole.

and a piece of wire (hot) and two roach clips.

How about one of the manual wipers that sticks thru the frame with the handle that tightens on with a wingnut. Vintique or any number of antique suppliers might have them. They are easily modified for different height windshields. I keep one in my Willys, but don't have a pic, yet.

Have a clip-on "boat accessory" wiper for my 29 RPU..........keep it under seat and it's never been used in 77,000 miles, but it p***ed local inspection........only Rain-X used & do read directions........my experience w/Rain-X is that it must dry to a haze before wiping off, then it will last a while..........almost totally useless to stop under an overp***, splash on Rain-X, quickly wipe off & get back on the road, Rain-X has to dry/haze/etc...........so applying once it's already raining, becomes a chore to get it dry enough to wipe off.........when rainy driving, I try to apply Rain-X every fuel stop & hope it hazes while I'm filling gas tank............

Boat unit with a clamp. That Sea Dog number should work at most boat supply houses http://www.go2marine.com/product/209874F/sea-dog-manual-windshield-wiper-removable.html

Or the unit without a clamp that needs a hole drilled or a clamp bracket fabbed.

A lot of used something similar to this in the 70's on our rods. http://www.quadratec.com/products/9...xd**wLSgjpcFv3JZRZXvim0CuKygDm-K78xoC6i7w_wcB
Put the mfg number in a search and you will find a number of sources.
If I was going removable electric I'd wire in a lighter/power plug in the rig and use the plug in power cord with the wiper motor. Plug and play and mostly like you can find other needs for the lighter/power socket anyhow.

The windshield frame is a 2" chopped brookville unit and has no holes punched nor do I want any. The rain X fogged is the way to go but I don't know about the mounties in Canada's Rocky Mountains. I was stopped for not having chains in April!!!! True story.

This guy has never been out of the Escondido area! The 5W was bought from the second owner in Northern Ontario Canada. 1928 Roadster pickup 01.JPG

Rain X Directions: If used on a roadster slap some on both sides. Nice looking ride by the way.
