I couldn't wait...My (almost finished) Hemi Model A Rolling Chassis

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Bass, Jan 12, 2006.

  1. Well done! That chassis is beautiful.
Raising the engine will really help the car look cleaner by de-cluttering the undercarriage.

I would killt o be able to weld like that!!:D
Very nice, of course I would expect nothing less, everything you do is first class.
Thought I recognized those rear spring hangers, old roadster in my avatar had 36 bones, odd coincidence but I am picking up a complete 36 rear end with torque tube today, just for the bones.
Can't wait to see the car, Roundup?

DANG, Brian, your project and a couple others on the 'ol HAMB are so inspired! I'm actually excited for you, can't wait to start mine! I'm where you were 4 or 5 years ago, just collecting parts, but man, cool parts! I too want to see more on your rear spring hanger, Poppy like! Your "drag" version rules, but, like you said, needs some mags up front! Best of luck getting it ready, I am really rootin' for you, nice work!!

With useing the 40 crossmember, will you be able to get the driveshaft in/out of the trans with the body on? Or is it an illusion that it looks real close. Just wondering cause i really like the crossmember idea.

Yes, the driveshaft will come out fine....The transmission is a different story. I'm building a removeable transmission hump to pull the trans. I'll pretty much have to pull the seat, pull the hump, and the trans will come out through the interior.

  11. Looks good Brian... how ya gonna get a rubber mount on that tranny?

Thanks Sam...that's just a temporary mount in the pics. I'm still debating on whether I should build a mount to go to the stock 'biscuit' holes the '40 trans sat on, or if I should just use a GM rubber mount on a simple crossmember.

Love those front motor mounts. Very clean and I like the way they meet the top of the frame rail. Do you still have the rails from the 40? I would be interested.

hey bass what are your plans for the clutch linkage? if you use a rod from the pedal to the fork you will need anti-chatter rods to keep the motor from moving laterally.

    Danny...

This is an older post. I'm using a hydraulic throw-out bearing and a clutch master. Here's a pic of the in-progress pedal assembly...

I think a mount that used the '40 mounting points would look great, but it doesn't really matter because either way you are going to make it look right.

Brian, I think you are hands down the most under rated builder on the HAMB. I always see clean, smart, and well built stuff in your shop. And you're a damn good painter too. I can't wait to see this finished.

I'm literally 10 years late, but this chassis is killer. I love seeing your builds around town!
