Anyone have any pictures of flathead six speed parts? Now that it looks like I'll be able to use my 226 in my '49 I'm curious what was made for these. So far all I have ever found was a dual point conversion...woohoo..
This guy can split your manifold for duals. Looks damn good and ain't too high in the price area either. I've got a '49 with the 6. Stuff for these are hard as hell to find and when you do it's expensive. I haven't found anything under a grand yet. I got the name of a guy who had some manifolds for around that price if interested. Let me know and I'll try and dig his contact info out. http://www.inliners.org/Advertisers/kkk_ad1.html
THis question comes around every once and a while here. I am a flathead 6 fanatic, and have spent many hours searchin for speed parts and I have two of those motors right now, one running in a '46 with a .090 bore, stock cam, milled head and stock headers/intake and it moves pretty good. Check ebay often, and you might get lucky, a dual intake and a finned aluminum head went for about $350 each about 2 months ago on eBay, and they did make a dual point distributor, but they are hard to find, I know a guy that sold one about 5 months ago. Just look hard for parts, but I would make the parts if you are up to doin some fab work. A header system isn't too hard with some u-bends, and a dual intake isn't too hard to fab up with some piping and home made flanges. The flatty 6 ford 226 can take about .180 bore at the max and still be streetable, mill the head a bit for comp, then get the cam reground for a better lift and duration, fab up some headers and intake, and you have a pretty hopped up flatty. Just don't think you are gonna get 200 hp out of any flatty without SERIOUS money and machining and I mean SERIOUS. THey are just fun to look at and hear rumblin down the road. Hope this helps Mike
I'll give REVHEAD first crack at it... $240.00 and the time honored tradition of the HAMB , FREE SHIPPING. REVHEAD you game? If not,it's up for grabs!
$240 is a good price, it is in good condition too. I am not lookin to buy right now, just wondering, I am gonna make my own dual intake just for the challenge THanks for lettin me know though! Mike
DAMN! I just sold my 49 and was looking evreywhere for one of those intakes! And of course now that one pops up I dont have the car anymore...figuers
A man in Atlanta Ga. by the name of Vinnie had some NOS knudsen parts on the inline board cl***ifieds. I tried to call him over a 2 mo period but got nothing but his answer machine. If you do find the parts they are pricey. Good Luck..
Thanks for the offer VAPHEAD, but right now I'm not rolling in cash. I'll p*** on it. I'll check with you in a couple months maybe and see if you have found another.
