Here's mine when I got it, you can see the strut rod. I tried to snake a rear steer rack in there, the only way it would clear the strut rods put the bump steer way off. Maybe the steering arms on you spindles is higher or lower than mine.

Also the rack when I mounted it in front. The Ackerman is way off in this photo, had to cut off the steering arms and make new ones. Ackerman, bump steer, steering radius all good now.

I have a '63 Tempest front (just like Corvair) under my '36 Chev truck w/ MII rack. It was built that way by the P.O. in the 70's I had planned to leave it, until I heard all the stories of how terrible the turning radius is, etc. Not to mention, it's sits so high you get a nose bleed when you are behind the wheel. It's coming out. I have a '40 Ford front crossmember & complete axle w/ split bones & disc brakes. Seems much safer & easier (& lower) than that ifs. If I didn't have that, I'm pretty sure I'd go the MII route. Just because something is "period correct," doesn't mean it wasn't a bad idea then, & now.

i have had this car for 15+ years and all i have done is collect parts and move it around. i am going to put it together enough to let the next guy finish it the way he likes. i need the garage space. it is a cool car and at the moment it rolls and steers so changing the front right now is low on the list, fixing the bad and the ugly on the body are my priorities now.

I have a complete Corvair front end I just took out of my 29 RPU. I has a MG rack with front steer, handled very well,no bump steer, just didn't turn sharp. It is free for the taking if someone wants it.
