I just installed my offy 4x2 intake with the rochester carbs and i cannot seem to get them to idol any less than 1500rpms unless i push down really hard on the linkage arms then it will come down to about 800. I was told to put a return spring on each arm but i think as hard as i have to push the springs would have to be so stiff that i would hardly be able to push the gas peddle.please help i am running out of time!!!!!!!!!!!!!

disconnect the linkage and see if the throttle plates will close all the way.

spray carb cleaner at the base of the intake, and at the base of the carbs.if the idle goes up you have a va***e leak.

Hook up a temporary spring on each carb for safety, disconect linkage (possibly where arms clamp to shaftsmight be best) and go round the 4 carbs several times with engine idling until you have carbs adjusted (both speed screw and mix screws) to lowest possible idle. then move each off idle a bit and see if each returns to where set--if not, there's a sticky issue in throttle bodies. If all returns OK, reattach linkage without disturbing carb shaft positions and see if wholedamnthing will return to low idle.
