Anybody remember a red '63 Dodge lightweight with "Rambunctious" in white letters on the side. It was campaigned in the late 60's to late 70's by Ronnie Anderson on the East coast. His home track was Capitol Raceway in Maryland. Anyone have any info on the car. Thanks Bobbyd
He lived in Kensington, Md. Today he lives right up the road from 75&80 Dragway. I worked at Capitol back in that time frame & remember him running there. I just ran across him again ( super nice guy ) & thought I would try to get a lead on his old car for him. I live in Loch Haven not to far from you & have a '51 chev cruiser. Any info on the '63 Dodge would be great. Bobbyd
I know Gene Snow had a succession of red Dodge's right up to the '70's with "Rambunctious" on the side. Whether or not the '63 Dodge that Ronnie Anderson had was originally a Gene Snow car I don't know. I think it had been thru another owner before he got it. I do know that it wasn't street legal & didn't even have a paper trail. Bobbyd
I know of several Mopars that ran with the Rambunctious name on the side around the country That ran on small tracks. Gene Snow's cars were the original Rambunctious though. I'd think guys running a Mopar at local tracks saw his cas in magazines and decided to use the name themselves and as they were usually in areas where there was little press coverage no one from other areas knew the difference. Kind of like thinking your car club that you named is the only club in the country with that name.
I agree with you on the name thing, no harm no foul if it's not copyrighted. The fact that this car was a legitimate aluminum front end lightweight that Ronnie Anderson ran from around '66 to '74 makes me wonder if it wasn't an early Gene Snow car that he ended up with. By '66 Gene was running an altered wheelbase car where this car had a standard wheelbase. Thanks for you input. Bobbyd
