I recently got a Winfield intake at a swap meet for a price I couldn't pass up. And I don't have a Winfield carburetor but would like to use it on my play around engine build. It has a 1 3/8" carburetor opening and I have stromberg 81, 97's but adapters to fit one of these looks a bit more involved. I also have a box full of Chrysler Carter Ball & Ball single barrel carburetor's and was look at them and they have a 2 bolt flange so easy to adapt with a bolt in plate and a 1 9/16" butterfly opening. Does anyone have any experience using one of these on a mild built model A engine?
I've had a few Winfield to two bolt carb adaptors over the years, someone has to have one out there. Bob
if you have access to a Bridgeport and a couple spare hours i would think it would be a simple project to make an adapter so you could use any carburetor . maybe use a piece of aluminum 1/2" thick and mill away.
I have several Winfield's both up draft and downdrafts as well as manifold adapters. Winfield produced adapters for 2 bolt ,4 bolt carbs. Depending on the size of carb you are going to run I have some of these adapters for sale. The 4 bolt bases came in 2 bolt pattern sizes. You would have to measure your bolt pattern to get the correct one. They run $100.00 each for genuine Winfield adapters. brasscarguy@Comcast.net
