I grew up around cars and have always had a thing for traditional rods and pickup trucks. I've been lurking on HAMB for quite a while, but since I didn't own anything pre-'64 I never joined. For years I lusted after a '53-'56 Effie. Since life is too short, when I finally found one that wasn't a rust bucket and reasonably affordable, I jumped on it. So I'm here with my "new to me" 1953 F-100.
Welcome to the HAMB, hope you post some photos of your F-100. I liked your avatar, but it vanished. thanks Ron...
So a little more about the ride, or at least what I can tell from the VIN. She's a 215, 4 speed, built in Richmond (R in the VIN, but is that Richmond as in Norfolk VA, or the Ford plant in Richmond CA?). Originally red, sometime in her very near past she was shot in primer. Body seems really solid. Frame is a little rusty with scale, but nothing serious. Side glass is starting to delaminate and the vent window need replacement frames and glass. Bench seat is mostly hashed, but repairable. One of the POs upgraded to a new harness, alternator and 12v system. Also, someone added turnsignals to the rear. It looks like the original carb with glass float bowl. Starts right up and runs well, but tops out at about 56 mph (according to my phone GPS). She appears to have the original running gear and wheels with drum brakes all around (no booster or fancy stuff there). Shifts well enough, but the shifter is sloppy. In other words, no complaints for a 63 year old, mostly stock Effie. Grabbed these pics the other day but will add more when I can.
