I'm loving for a single barrel carb adapter that change the dire ton the carb sits. Any one know where to buy it? Look like the black piece in the pic.[IMG] sorry posting here but it won't allow me to chose the proper category.

  3. Your category is fine don't sweat it. It is really likely that you will have to make your own or send me the carb and I'll make you one. But I am absolutely sure that you can do it.

It can be done with wood and has been more times than any of us would like to admit. But your best bet is to get a piece of Phenolic Sheet. It is easy to work with and can be cut with anything that you can cut wood with. Here is a link to some that you can buy if you can't find it locally.

I have found it at hobby shops before, so unless I just wanted to order it on line that is where I would look.

Get yourself a piece that is 3/8 thick, you'll need a hole saw and a drill. If you have a drill press or a vertical mill that is even better.

Ok I think you get it right?

Like I said if you think this is too much for you send me the carb and I'll make you one, but I am absolutely sure that you can do it.

If you have access to any machine tools, drill press, band saw, etc, you could make such an adapter. It could be done one of at least two different ways. One way is to use a thicker piece of metal plate, say 5/8" thick for example. Aluminum would be a good material as it machines easier than steel. Bore a hole in the center the size needed for the carb throat, then drill carb base mounting holes, one pair in one direction, the other pair at 90* from the first.

The other method would be two steel flanges, about 3/8" thick, made the same as the carb base, holes for the throat and base bolts, and weld the flanges together at 90*.

The latter method may be Easier to make at home because of the thinner base plate material.

Suggest making it round like a pipe flange spacer, That way, you can mount it in just about any direction you want.

  6. I have seen them done with two flanges and a shot piece of pipe too.

There are a lot of ways to skin this kat.

I would second the Phenolic, many of the commercially available carb spacers/adapters are made of the stuff, and we use it in the aerospace industry all the time too. Word of warning though: wear a respirator, or at least a mask, whenever you are cutting it. The dust is extremely bad for your lungs and other soft squishy inside parts.

Those phones always mess with your spelling. I don't know of an adapter but it shouldn't be too hard to make one out of a piece of aluminum plate about a half inch thick. You need to countersink the two holes that hold the plate to the manifold and use allenhead screws or other machine screws and then drill and tap the holes that go opposite to use the studs you took out of the manifold.

Actually you may not have to counter sink the holes for the manifold if the carb turn sideways on the manifold now and the studs will clear the throttle body so that you can have nuts beside them on the studs. That arm on the throttle body is going to be tricky to clear though.
