B-BOP , I've got between 2&3 inches and found a seal made for semis on the internet that comes in two different sizes 4 & 7 inches and connects to only one side and uses friction for the other ? Will see how it works . If it doesn't seal good enough , my upholstery guy said he could make a water proof boot with a zipper . Time will tell . I need to shim the rear of cab about a inch higher . Will wait till I mount the fenders and see . Also the gap under the sleeper will be filled when I extend and mount the lower floor board . Blue

Well I finished my civic duty yesterday, jury duty . I got called on Monday and picked and seated for 5 day murder trial . It over and I never want to do it again .
Back to work today on COE . Got plastic hung , and will prime and paint some small to medium parts for dash and brakes tomorrow. If I don't get to many runs I may post pictures. Blue

Well I painted today. I had some left over 2k ceramic frame paint from Eastwood . Put two coats of epoxy primer on first then two of the frame paint . Looks ok except I got orange pill on the steering column of co****, it's the only part I really wanted smoth . After a while I will scuff it , lay on some filler primer , then shot some PPG black . I know you've heard this before , I hate painting , probably because I'm not good at it .Blue

Mounted the master cylinder, re***embled the under dash brake parts and dash brace . Had to bend the lines from mc to regulater to miss hood . Will probably redo the front one . Measured up lines for front brake lines and ordered them . Tomorrow I will figure how to hook up rear . So all the painted parts from yesterday , except steering column , are mounted . And the beat goes on . Blue

image.jpeg Well I've had a bunch of spring honey do to get caught up on . But today I got back on the COE . Started the hydraulic lines to the brakes and power steering. Also finished the brake lines . Used my double flare tool .
    image.jpeg
It's really easy to screw up the fittings . One on left is what I was looking for . Not much room .
    image.jpeg
When done I was pretty happy . Need to get some clamps to stop all the vibration.
    image.jpeg

image.jpeg Got to get back to work , lunch is over . Blue

    Very nice, Blue! Hydroboost?

I was thinking just the other day what a smart move it was to paint the outside of the firewall. I'll have to remove all my AC/Heat/Brake booster, etc cuz i wasn't that bright.

Well it's the little things that take forever. I've been doing lots of stuff but it just don't show . Last two days been running gas lines and filters and regulators . I have two gas tanks . Pas anger side has pump in tank , lines go to regulator then to filter and carb . The driver side tank is plumbed with a transfer pump to other tank .
Made a little bracket to hold my breather off the drivers tank . I used some 16ga sheet metal. Layer out some holes , drilled, punched lighting holes and bent it up . Waiting for paint to dry to mount . May show some pictures when done .
Going to Lonestar Roundup next Wednesday in my 39 PU , so won't get much done next week . Blue

I like that fancy punch work!!
I've had similar thoughts about working on the truck and that it's really nothing anyone is gonna see... I started on the grille repairs last November and while I have the shiny stainless on there now, not much else shows. All the rust repair and panels I had to make and the metal behind it to direct the airflow. The inside hood release..... Ah well... I know it's there... haha

Skier , isn't it the truth . This will only show when the bed is up . I think the flange on the holes makes it a little stronger . They might get seen now and then since my bed lift and bags are on a remote control and n my pocket . May lift and drop both just to f#*k with the lookyLous . Well anyway fuel lines are done now on to the trans cooler. Blue

Last year Mercurycharlie had a bad car crash after the LSR on Friday. Dr Dave here on the HAMB had an open bid on a bumper guard that I lucky enough to win with all proceeds going to his medical bills.
This year I was proud to give that part to Charlie . He is doing better but still in a lot of pain . Just hope he gets back to his old self . Blue

Well I did real good at the PATE ! Sold a lot , picked up some sheet metal panels for my wife's 59 , and saw a lot of old friends and made a few new ones .
Bought myself a new planising hammer . Played with it today and it is going to be a real time saver and a great tool . The bubble out of Al. I made in about 5 minutes. When I do them on the sand bag and English wheel takes me about 15 .
OT getting my 49 HD ready to go to Utah for a road run with the AMCA . When I get back back on the COE .
Going to Washington in August and would love to see doughboys Coe .

Kind of OT but have been working on my 49 pan . Going to a AMCA road run last of month in Utah. The COE is a bike hauler ! Will stop off and see Daddio211 .
Been draining fluids including fuel . Found a bad belt in my belt drive . Had to replace it and cleaned the clutches . Carb had your usual e fuel problems and the br*** jets were corroded and green . Any way got it running and purring like a tiger . Will clean her up in the next two days . Going to Utah and two days after I get back off to Mittler bros. for a SM cl*** in MO. then over the river to Bowling Green for the HOT ROD REUNION. Then home for sleep . Hope to see some of you on the road . Will be in my 39 at BG . Blue

  22. When I got my first welder, (never welded before) & could not find anyone to teach me anything, A friend that was a sertified welder said to me, once you learn good penetration, the differance between a good weld & a bad weld is a good grinder, LOL.
A thick coat of paint helps to... LOL

Well I finished getting my 49 and my trailer ready for the trip today . Will get my truck camper loaded in morn. and get a couple of new tires $$$$$ . Will be loading up on Wednesday for first trip and make a pile for second trip the day after I get back from Utah. Will be leaving for Utah on Thursday.. Haven't been able to get ahold of Daddio for a visit . Anyone heard from him ? Blue

  28. I feal your frustrations. I'm 61, going on 81. After driving Truck for 28 years I finely took a wrong turn back in 2001 & had a bad crash. Lost a leg & busted up inside & out. I feel I added 20 years to my body & brain. But thats OK, I don't drive truck no more & now I get to play in my garage & do things I never had time to do, like building this 39 COE.
Realisings my welding needed help, I took a welding cl*** last year. First thing I discovered was, "I can't see". So I got my first pair of gl***es, byfocals. Than I realized my helmet was junk, so I baught a real good helmet. That helped some but not good enough so I got a cheater lense for the helmet. Still having problems seeing, I got a good table mounted spot light. Well now I can see so I have no more excuses, so I quietly get out my hand grinder & claim that I like a smooth looking weld. LOL
