Glad to hear he's on the fast track toward recovery Steve. That's quite a traumatic experience no one should ever have to go through, but...since he's going through it, it's great to hear he's kicking it's ass....

Speaking of ass kicking... has anyone talked to the irresponsible yahoos at the yard about this deal? While I'm sure it was a complete accident based on complete ignorance, there had to be some recourse...didn't there?

All my best wishes Amigo... it sounds like everything will work out as well as possible.

(tell him the plastic surgeons are gonna make him look like George Clooney or Brad Pitt or some shit...)

I know its hard to think about it, but I'm a firm believer that everything happens for a reason. But keep you and your families faith up, but also keep in the back of your head they might just need another good guy up in heaven.
    Be strong,God bless

Just got home frome the hospital...

Not much has changed, but he's breathing pretty much on his own now (the ventilator's still in as a "back up").

They are probably going to do the surgery to fix his sinuses and jaw Saturday, and then after that they're going to start weening him off of the ventilator AND the sedatives!:)

    Thanks again everybody!

Your Dads in my prayers man!;)
I lost my Mom when I wasn't even a year old (16days away from my 1st birthday) My Dads Mother raised my brother, sisiter & I.
I lost my brother when he was 12days away from his 29th birthday:( .
and his is 9 days before mine. Well last Oct my father was diagnosed with bladder cancer, He went in for two exploratory surgeries, Last week, I took him to the City of Hope in Duarte CA.(Cancer Research Hospital) and they performed orthoscopic surgery and removed his bladder as well as his prostate & reconstructed a new bladder by using some of his lower intestine.
I stayed home & waited by the phone, my stepmother stayed @ hospital the whole 10hr surgery and I went to visit him the next day.
Dads are real important, We often don't see eye to eye:rolleyes:, But I'd be up sh*t creek without him to argue with me & my sister every morning when we meet for coffee.="The American Dysfunctional Family" Well I brought him home on wednesday and I gotta take him back on friday to see if he's healing ok.
I will be thinking about you Dad,while I'm listening to mine bitch me out:D
I wish him the best & of course your entire family.
    Sincerely,
    Kevin

knowing your dad steve, he will be up and around in a couple more days, telling jokes and cracking up the doctors and nurses.
he's a tough, stubborn old guy, he's not gonna let this set him back much...
he'll be back to his old self long before the weather turns nice...and long before he comes to billetproof with us.
like everyone else....if ya need anything...blah blah blah...you know the drill.

While I was up there last night, the nurses started talking to me about getting their nipples pierced and all of that stuff...
Then they started making fun of each other about having small boobs, etc...:)

The one nurse then apologized to my Dad for the subject material of our discussion...

I told her "you guys OBVIOUSLY don't know my dad; this stuff is TAME compared to the comments HE'D be making!".:D

Good to see things are getting back to normal... :)

    Thanks for the update.

If the nurses are like that... start hinting at spongebaths....

Just got home from the hospital...

Dad's surgery is scheduled for tomorrow at noon!

    The ENT is going to go in and fix/clean out his sinuses and everything (I guess he's gonna do some stuff for his sleep apnea while he's in there too!);

and then while he's still under, the oral surgeon's gonna try to get all of the bone/tooth fragments cleaned out, as well as put his jaw back together and wire it shut.

His surgery may get rescheduled, because the hospital he's at is a regional trauma center, so if any more critical people need the OR, they get it first...
I completely understand, as this deal's pretty minor for what he's been through, but still, we're pretty anxious to get past these hurdles!

The said as soon as that's all done, it's time to start weening him off of the sedatives and the ventilator!

    I'll keep ya posted!

    Thanks!
    Steve

Man, oh Man...that's all I'm thinking after reading your past updates. We all take life for granted. My Ma got colon cancer last year, was diagnosed early on; they think they got it all and she is still "cancer free" a year later...

The last and only time (thank god!) I was in the hospital was because of a kidney stone...kinda puts things in perspective for me...my goal was to be like my grandpa, and NEVER visit the hospital...but he died of a heart attack, probably because he never WENT to get a check up, something that I DO regularly.

I'm so happy to be reading along with the progress and seeing (hearing) your Pops is getting better. My prayers will continue...and I'm 1/2 atheist :)
