I ordered a new set of smoothie wheels over 3 weeks ago for my 50 F1 pickup but have not received them yet. (that's another story! I am getting pissed!!!) I ordered 8" for the rear and 7" for the front in a 15" wheel. The wheel shop told me to get 255/70x15 for the rear and 225/70x15 for the front. My problem is I can't find anything in those sizes that aren't white letter. I just want black wall!!!! All tire stores have told just to put the white letters on the inside. No that's NOT what I want! They also say to just color the white letters with a black magic marker. No that's NOT what I want! Does anyone know of a black wall tire in those sizes or have another idea? Help!

    Black spray paint works, too.

I have drag radials on the back of my 55, no raise white letters. Although you kinda need some hp under the hood, or they don't look right. 275/60 size

Or you can get mud/snow tires for the back, that wouldn't look right either.

Try Diamond Back Tires at dbtires.com they may be able to make you what you want.

  4. The back tires on my Roadster have white letters on the inside, I sprayed them black with upholstery die. Been on there 10,000 miles and still looks great.

find a tire shop that cuts whitewalls on tires - they could cut white letters off

I don't think he wants a wide white on a tire that size...but I could be wrong

  9. I am running 235x70x15 on 8" wheels on the Pusher no problems.

My local tire store in Council Bluffs Iowa sold me P255/70 15 Cooper Discoverer, no white letters on mine.
EDIT I worried that maybe my addled brain had mis information saved in it, and I was correct, yeah there are white letters turned to the inside, however, I checked out the Cooper website and the P265/70 15 is black, the diameter is .43 inches greater, rim size suggested for the 265 is 7-9 inches.

  12. No white letters, Coopers, I think Cobras. The tires stayed nice and flat, and they wore like iron.

Note: I said I am running 235s and should have said was running 235s on the Pusher. I don't have the old heap any more.

    - point being the raised letters would not be there so, when painted black and mounted on inside of tire would not look too bad

  14. I bought a car with raised letter tires on it back on the '90s. I thought that they didn't look so good so I took a laundry marker and marked them out. I have the car for several years and it stayed on until the tires wore out.

Are you trying to match model of tire front and rear? General does have some that are either outlined white letter or black wall but non matching front and rear models.

Most truck consumers want to run RWL (raised white letter) or OWL (outlined white letter)tires in these sizes, thus the reason everyone makes them like this.

The best tire out there for your application, IMO, is the Mastercraft Courser HT. It is a sister tire to the Cooper DSiscover HT. Both will have OWL but at least its not as noticable as the full RWL

I ordered 8" smoothies for the rear and 7" for the front. Wheel Company told me today another 2 weeks before I get them so it will be 5 weeks since I ordered and paid for them. When I ordered them they told me 5 to 10 days on the outside. Funny how they forget all about you once you pay them just shy of a $1000.00. In the mean time I going to keep looking for some black walls.
