It sounds great and has a cool vibe and you won't have to worry about another one just like it pulling up beside you at a stoplight.
I might have to get some speed secrets for a stock engine for the Owner of the 33 Willys sedan especially if you can get it up to 65 mph or so.

I FINALLY got my header in the mail, it was like christmas when I opened the box! It took Clifford 3 months to have them make it and ship but well worth it.

I have been waiting a long time to drive this truck!

I dropped off my extra Willys radiator the other day at the local radiator shop and they did a pressure test and though it looked fine on the outside, there were small pin holes everywhere. So now I took mine out of the ute and will be bringing it to the shop to see if this one is in good shape, fingers crossed.
I installed new gas tank, carbs are great, installed header and brakes work awesome. As soon as the radiator is squared away, I should be able to drive it.

Yes, he was a member of the Rod Riders Racing Club. But not a lot as he got into ill health just as we joined. This panel did come out of a San Berdo yard, U&I, where I watched it for 10 years before I broke John down and sold it.

What's it cost to import one of these? I'd love a Chevy ute.

I have brought in 4 of them, but it has been a while, and it depends on; where you ship from, where you are shipping to, who handles the shipping, the shipping company, import duties, dock fees, Customs x-ray fees, shipping from the dock to final shipping location. And these days finding one, a lot were crushed in the last 5 years.
12 years ago to ship one vehicle $3,200.00, Five years ago to ship three in a single large container $6200.00 if I remember right.

I noticed milkshake the other day so I took the head off today.

As you can see the #1 cylinder looks like it's been power washed internally. The damn water jacket is too close to the cylinder.
I noticed that the head stud holes seem off center, so now I'm wondering if machining some of the aluminum material may help but I think it may just be easier to weld material to the water jacket to beef it up a bit. It's funny, the head water jacket doesn't have a path through the block, it stops dead and the surface.

I finally had some free time today without work hounding me, so I decided to take the Willys Ute out for a spin. I decided to wind it up and see if it could do a burn out when suddenly BAM! I broke both welds on the spring pads, broke a U bolt AND snapped one of my emergency brake cables. Nothing to serious thank goodness.

Would you be cool if I paint my 33 Willys the same silver as your AWESOME truck?

At least the springs will hold anything you want to haul. Very cool! First one I have seen.

I Had someone build a gas tank for my Ute last year and I thought I posted pictures of it, but I guess not.
The builder did a great job replicating my tank, here's his info: billygilliland56@gmail.com

The first picture is the new tank and the second picture is the old tank.

I really need to stop doing burn outs!

Are rear axles supposed to be in 3 pieces? IMG_9720.jpg

Added a new interior today on the Willys, I had to do a plastic cover with silver piping just like the way my Grandpa used to.

  24. The 1933 Willys sales brochure claims 70 mph top speed and 30 mpg for these cars with the 4 banger. Strange no mention of the top speed and mileage with the blown hemi upgrade option

I’ve got a stock ‘40 sedan with much taller tires than stock and it’s wound up as tight as I want it at 55-60. Can’t imagine 70 with shorter tires.

70 is DAMN fast in these little buckets, mine feels loose as a goose at 40, I also need to rebuild the suspension though.

  27. Hey I'm not claiming they can go 70mph - just relaying what is written - could be the desperate claims of a company in financial problems.

Once my suspension is built and a set of new tires, I will definitely be pushing it as hard as I can. I didn't build it to go slow. :)
