Man....if this dont make you misty, something is wrong with you. Ive only been around the H.A.M.B. for about a year and half, but I check in several times a day and I see many names recurring regularly. The few Ive met in person and the many Ive come to know somewhat thru this site, make me very appreciative of you all. I did not surprise me one bit that you guys had participated in such a worthy project, I just wish I had been around at the time to help or donate as I could...you guys are the best!

The HAMBAndy affair was one of the HAMB's brightest moments. We all miss him and were proud to be a part of his life and his vision.

  9. Great video, and as others have said Andy was a great guy and we miss him.

So when is the race? My wife and I were talking about a trip to the Rock either this summer or next.

I just answered my own question (and this link has a bit more of Andy's story for the newer HAMBers who weren't around then)...

What a great video that brings back some great and some sad memories of that cool little guy.
Good to see that the even is being held in his memory and that it supports one of the best things that any corporation has come up with as a charity item.

I've still got my Hamb Andy T shirt and digging though the treasure box the other day uncovered the Hamb Andy plaque.

Wow, that was a really moving video. Like others, Andy's story came before I found this great brotherhood and I really wish I was there to lend him a hand. Stories like Andy's really help put life into perspective. Just because what I'm trying to do isn't working or my boss made me work so I had to miss something seems like a huge deal at the time, then guys like Andy come along and show us what real problems are and how to handle them like a true champion. I know very little about his story, but I can tell he was a true gift from God to everyone he met. I really am glad to hear his car got finished and he got to drive it. His time with us may have been cut short, but it wasn't before he touched more lives than most of us ever will. Andy, stories like yours live on to inspire people forever and guys like you become the legends guys like us try to live up to.

What a great video! Once again, the memory of that fine young man brings inspiration to the world. I think of Andy quite often, and it always brings back a lot of memories of the HAMB, really pulling together to fulfill such a dream, for the coolest young hot rodder on the planet! Thanks to the great people who made this video, for continuing to keep the memories of HAMBAndy inspiring forever.

I followed along through the HAMB Andy days and was priviledged to see the good side of human nature right here on the HAMB....I feel honored to have witnessed it. The video was killer.
You don't suppose Andy's parents are from Chicago, do you?

    No...definately not.
Chicago and Newfoundland share a common connection to the Irish and as a result a tiny bit (?) of an Irish lilt to the spoken word.
    Not that you'd notice. :D

You snagged a good one for sure...

Much respect to the fine folks of the HAMB who enabled us all to pull off this miracle and to those who continue to keep Andy alive in their memory. Sometimes the greatest gift is the people who surround you and teach you with out you even knowing.

Great video, thank you for sharing. Started getting misty the second I pushed play, remembering it all. Still seems like yesterday. Can't believe it's been 7 years or so. Reminds you that no single act of kindness is empty and we have no idea what ripples and later waves come from one small thing we do or kindness we show.

  24. Well done, amazing portrait of the human spirit, rest in peace Andy.
