Hi I have a 1958 Apache with a paint code 5001 and can not seem to find any info on that paint code hoping for some input on here. I added photos of both the cowl plate and the one in the door jam.

I know either the cab or the box was switched cause the style code calls for a step side and mine is a fleetside but does not appear anything had a different color under it. Currently looks like maybe tartan turquoise or Indian turquoise. Will go by the gm dealer and try to go though vintage gm to figure it out tommorow

57 used Indian Turquiose, 59 used Tartan Turquoise (in the US at least). 3204 is a long bed step side model.

    A58LB,

This is about a ten year old memory, so things may have changed... I remember reading that GM of Canada was more accommodating than GM-USA with regards to taking questions about cars, their codes, etc. You might try giving them a call and finding the right department to decode that number for you, if they still do that sort of thing.

I also remember there was a Canadian guy who had posted a lot of the GM of Canada decoding information, but either he lost interest, died, or didn't want to pay for continued website hosting anymore, as I remember his site was a dead link a few years ago, the last time I tried using it.

    Best Wishes,

    Gotta56forme/Scott

One more suggestion... your profile doesn't list where you are... if you are in Canada, you might try calling the oldest paint suppliers you can find to see if their reference material has the GM of Canada paint code cross references in it. I use the autocolorlibrary website which lists the GM-USA codes, but I don't see the GM-CA references in it.

A lot of Gm trucks did not actually list a paint code. When we started putting old car colors in our system, one color chart I have from the 50's truck chip deck list the color but do not ***ociate a manufacture code with it. I have all the 50's Era colors available. Send me a pm and I can help with color.
