this has probably been answered a few times but...... I have one of those speedway disc brake conversions for 37-41 ford spindles. My spindles are OEM off a 40 ford. my question is......after I put the adapter on, all new rotors and bearing and use speedway bearings my calipers are not centered..why?
I'm thinking the bearing and seal adapter is machined wrong whether it be the filet or the seal part needs to be machined....
    Any help would be great!!!!!!

Did you remove the tapered bearing that came in the rotors and replace them with new ones supplied in kit? That will seat your rotor back towards the spindle more. I just did one of the Speedway kits in my 41 Merc, great kit.

I'm not sure if this is your problem, but.....

I had a kit from them years ago where the large "eared" bracket that held the caliper did not seat flush with the round back spindle. I had to clearance (grind) the large eared bracket's mating surface to get the two parts to fit flush with each other. It didn't take much grinding to make them fit. But, the small (1/8") gap at the mating surface extended out to the ears of the large bracket would have caused a serious mis-alignment of the rotor / caliper.

Check that all 4 mounting bolts between the large eared bracket and the spindle are tight / there's no gap between the parts.

Just figured out the problem....even though the kit says 78-88 GM kit only the calipers are the metric style one must use the 73-77 Gm rotors

I've had this brake set-up on my '41 for 18 yrs or so. Only problem I had was the bolts to mount the caliper bracket were too short. Also had to machine the spindle nut thinner to get the cotter pin installed. My instructions said to redrill the spindle. Not!
