Im thinkin about buyin a 29 dodge rpu that has a 68 dodge slant 6 with a 4 speed manual trans..problem is i git into a accident several years ago and I cant drive a manual anylonger..what other auto transmissions will bolt up to the engine thats in it now?...i want to keep the slant 6 for awhile Any help would be appreciated thanks in advance
An automatic transmission from a slant 6 will bolt right up. Just need to change the fly wheel to the flex plate. Any late 60s to early 70s trany will fit.
The slant six has a unique to it bellhousing bolt pattern so besides a manual you really only have two options: #1. Slant six 904 automatic from any number of slant six cars. #2. They used a really rare adaptor in the A-100 trucks to adapt a V8 727 to the slant six. Most likely over kill for this project.
