Anyone know of a source for a Ford FE Aluminum 4-barrell PI (Police Interceptor)Intake manifold ? They use to be produced by a company called Blue Thunder. Bobbyd
Blue Thunder, or at least a more current outfit by the same name produce heads and blocks from aluminum today. I have a friend with an off topic door slammer outlawcar with a 408 cid version of a ford windsor block. They were made by the BlueThunder compsny.
Blue Thunder issues intakes at a dribble, to keep prices and demand up there. Best bet is to get ahold of someone like Barry Rabotnick, Carls Ford Parts or Dennis Carrico at DSC Motorsports, and tell them what you are after, and go on a waiting list. Be prepared to wait...and wait...and wait a little longer. If you arent up for that, and most HAMBers arent, buy a Performer RPM from Summit. I know DSC just got a Blue Thunder Cleveland intake in, he announced on one of the FE forums I'm on. That was a week ago, with the way Blue Thunder stuff goes, its probably already sold. And the Blue Thunder intake isn't really a copy of the Police Interceptor intake, its 1/2" taller, and has more internal volume. It does look similar. Personally, I am waiting for BBM to bring its tunnel wedge to market...and waiting...and waiting...FE's are not for the "instant gratification" type....
Blue Thunder has been a bit inconsistent about what they build and whether or not it's available. You might try these guys.... http://www.dscmotorsport.com/asp/products/content_manifolds.asp?SubCat=152
Blue Thunder FE heads are like hen's teeth right now, I lucked into a NIB set a couple months ago and grabbed them- then a week later got a shot at a nice set of CNC Robert Pond heads with new valves and valve job, so just haddadoit... So now I have ported and unported Ebocks, the BT's, the RP's, and my Kuntz- ported Dove aluminum High Risers. Jeezus...
Get in touch with Carrol Carter in Man***as Virginia. He builds those mountain motor engines and has tons of FE stuff. He has the blocks & heads etc cast and then he machines them into finished engines. He might have one of those intakes. The shop name is C&C Automotive, I don't recall the name of his website - something about the 'Home of the Boss'
I want to step up to some better heads for mine. Trying to make up my mind between CNC BBM or Barry Rabotnicks..
