one word...OUTHOUSE! i say go for the really fuckin heavy wood construction, wood siding, wood shingles, shag carpet on the walls inside and a wood plaque above the door "If the Cabin's a Rockin, Come on a Knockin!" straight up 70's style. reference your old Street Rodder or Truckin mags.
Tingler why would that be off topic? I think old push/track trucks are right on topic at least for some of us. I mean if you have a car that needs to be on a streacher for the right reasons of course what would be more cool than to pull it behind a period truck? Oh I don't have any pics or plans for ya. But what the hell at leats I got to get back up on the soap box.
I have always like this ad truck. I don't know who it belongs to but it's cool. I also thought a teardrop inspired camper shell would be cool too. Tim
Tngler, Ya know the easiest way might be to go to a war surplus and get the bows from say a deuce and a half then make 'em fit, put your whatever on the sides and give it a cloth top.
here's the one I built for my truck (you said you didn't mind what it was on), made a flat strip for the bed rails, welded tube receptacle at five spots, then bent 1" tubing bows that are removable, stretched the canvas over it and secured it at front and back
You mean as in showtunes and a love for Judy Garland? Gay? It's likely. Oh sorry, you mean camping out not camping it up.
Long hours spent surfing at work. I don't remember but there is a teardrop trailer forum. Search for it. I found those and thought that they would make a cool start to a topper with a similar feel as the trailer. I wanted to design a topper with a round look to it to match the lines of my 54 truck. Tim
Didn't "Jake" Jacob have one on his RPU? Seems I remember seeing a picture of it in the "Pete & Jake" book. If I remember right it had shingled sides and roof. Will try and dig up the book and scan a picture of it. Tom
www.socalteardrops.com in Ontario CA. (909) 590-2700 New, Used, Kits and Parts. Teardrop Trailers. I just found their ad in Drive Magazine tonight.
I'm sure you can find some in a salvage yard, or at least a big truck salvage yard, but you could also buy new. But those Under flatbed toolboxes. I think one on each side between the cab and the rear wheel. Bolt a big flat chunk of wood or bend up some tube or something for a front bumper like a drag pusher truck. I know there are some big offroaders around TN that you could get some tube work bent up for a sweet and versatile Headache rack. I personally think its hard to make a flatbed look good without a Bale spear sticking up on the back.
