I have known about this car for about 5 years . The last time I stopped and looked at it was about that long ago and it looked good then but five years sitting under the trees , well it hasnt done any favors almost makes me cry. It has been moved to the back line of a used car lot I went today to try and strike a deal but its to far gone for me I just dont have the time, money,or knowledge to fix her back up. Anyone know this car does it have any history ?

Is that a plexi windshield? If it is, I'd say there is nothing on that car to make it worth any more than a rusty stocker. Looks like any guy with a little bit of welding skill could do a chop like that in an afternoon. And I'd find a starting point with less rust.

Remember the thread "Just because you can doesn't mean you should"? That chop is a prime example. Poor thing.

There were lots of "kustoms" built in the '60's that weren't famous or well known...exactly like today on this board...there are many young men that feel everything must be chopped...a chop does not a kustom make and there are no other body mods on this car that I see to make it 'famous,' 'infamous' or simply 'well known'....

Looks like a bonded in screen from another car. It could look pretty good I should think, but as has been said, it´s not what you´d call a m***ive improvement in looks.

  10. I'm diggin the turbine hubcap on the front. Sixties cars always seem to look on with more than a 2"chop though. Price on the windshield looks high as Tommy Chong, offer him $500 to $800 and roll that ***** around town like a rockstar!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's still a '60 Starliner, and I think the roof could look nice with the trim put back onto it, and with appropriate paint and mods to the car. To me, the asking price doesn't seem that bad, and I'm sure they would take less. This would be a good chance for someone to trade in a late model type car to a dealer who just wants to unload the old car in the back yard. I have a hard time believing this chop is a hack job if the windows are all gl***. That's a tough cut.

Not famous or particularly pretty as it sits, but definite potential, someone could clean up their '96 Nissan whatever and trade it for this car.

What would they let the car go for ?

  13. It has been at that car lot for at least 10 years. And it was junk then. There is a reason that it is still sitting there. No door gl***, floors gone, panel between the roof and trunk gone. It sat there thru 4 hurricanes and it rains everyday for 4 months during the year.

Looks like something done in the 80's to me. Look at the way the windows were put back in w/the Rubber gaskets. Blue dots, lake pipes, and the car is white on the roof and doors were the handles were. Car was solid blue before the "work". If it didn't have the rust I would say cut the roof off and find a stock one.

Someone took the car and ****ed it up alot more recently than you think.

    I agree...
Too bad about the overall condition..
With a little cleanup, and some trim...
Now clean it up,fix the rust, paint it,and call it a D'Agostino car...then everybody would love it

That would make a good parts car, but they need to shift the decimal point in the price one place to the left!

Seriously though, IMHO if the body is rusted that badly, the floor has been toast for a long time.
The chop was butchered .... the windshield just looks all wrong.

Not sayin' someone with talent couldn't work with it, but it's way overpriced regardless.

I'm sure it is far worse than the pics, but I wouldn't say that it was "too far gone".

  23. We sold one that was such a piece of **** that a windstorm blew off the entire skin of the hood, for parts, for $500. I really have to wonder what some people are smoking.

$2950 does not seem unreasonable for that car, particularly before it started to rot, I mean could you even pay someone to do a chop - good or bad - and finish it for $3000?

Anything else would depend on how good the frame and floors are and what motor and trans combo is in it. But it wouldn't surprise me if you could get it for $2500, clean it up and flip it for more just by advertising it nationally.

That windshield looks like a back window turned around and laid down with a thick rubber,The sticker on the windshield says over $2,ooo.Its worth more as cash for clunkers , crusher bait.Too rusty and rough to bother with.If you look close everything has dents and rust.I bet it has buckets of bondo also. You would be better off starting with a different car that was not hacked up.Better cars are out there fairly cheep these days with the econamy like it is.

Car lot's are always going to "ask" more than what there worth. Pop the hood and see if the motor has been changed to something super rare, if not................................................

This post is old but this was my dad's car. It was chopped horribly by a well known builder who refused to fix it in the late 90's. My dad was disgusted with the car and sold it. It went to Florida from Minnesota. Other than the roof it was a nice car when it left. Rust free and drivable. Sad to see nothing was ever done with it.
