HF has their 20-oz purple spray gun on sale this weekend for those of us low-budget hackers.

I have to say, I have two of them and they have worked great for me. You just have to make sure you clean the **** out of it before you use it.

Agree on total dis***embly, good cleaning, verify all ports are sealing, shoot some thinner thru them at high pressure to ensure you don't have leaks.

Couple of good youtube videos on modifying tip size, the purple only comes in, I believe 1.4, I did the modification and it shot better for primer.

I use the HF guns, industrial enamel, woodworking, even shot epoxy thru one to recoat a bathtub when remodeling. Shot latex interior paint on all the trim I used when finishing out my ba*****t, need the tip opened up to do so.

I do own nice guns, use them on important projects, HF is for quickie jobs, I hate brush painting so I spray anything I can.

No I think it is a tent sale so that is the street sale price. Get the sale flyer at the store with the coupon if needed. They hand them out like candy.

I paint everything with mine. Did the base white, white pearl, candy lime gold, 3 coats of urethane clear job on the Mysterion clone and am very happy with it. I bought the optional (1.7?) larger tip for the gun I dedicate to primer. Paid as much for that tip as for the gun!! Still $$$$$$$$ less than the big guys and when only paint one or two cars/year at the most, can't beat the value. I have cleaning down to a science, can have the gun slick and on the shelf a couple minutes after finished painting.

If you really want to clean the snot out of it invest in their ultrasonic cleaner. I put some solvent and a gun in it, it takes a few cycles. I have a gun my dad hadnt used in almost 30 years back to like new looking.

The only problem I have had with them is the rubber ring seal between the gun and the cup rotting out.
I have had to improvise with rubber rings from the plumbing department of the local hardware store.

The sale probably covers several part numbers. It's the purple guns with the white plastic cup. If you ever need a coupon, Google harbor freight 20% coupon. They have it on their site. You can bring it up on your phone and use it.

They come in different nozzle tip sizes, so open it up and make sure it's the size you want. They're not the best guns but is the best you can buy for $9.99

Ever talk to your automotive paint supplier about used guns he's taken in on trade? Lots of times you can pick up a good used Binks or DeVillibiss for less than $50. I've got 2 DeVillibiss guns that are over 35 yrs old and still paint like the day they were built. No, I don't have a coupon for that...

We've bought a ton of those guns over the years and have laid down some pretty good paint jobs with them. They really are a bargain. Plus, if I am tired at the end of the night and don't feel like cleaning the gun, I don't feel too bad about tossing it in the trash.

I may have to go by HF tomorrow, thanks for the tip.

I got the HF kit with the HVLP purple gun and a small detail gun. Don't remember how much it was, but I bought it so it musta been cheap. They turn stuff that's one color into another color...so they have that goin for em...with a little time and technique, it don't do half bad, love mine.

  22. I just shot the roof of my Olds wagon with the purple one. The paint laided out GREAT.I used Acrlic.Enamel with the hardner. Bruce. 002.JPG

You obviously don't live in the People's Republik of Kalifornia. If we even THOUGHT about using acrylic enamel, we would face serious jail time.
