Hey guys, Tried putting this in classifieds and couldn't for some reason. Does anyone near Rochester NY have a 3.08:1 third member for a 1955-1964 Chevy passenger car rear end? If so, please send me a private message. Thanks Drew
Hoping to get this post seen… Anybody around Rochester that has one, it would be a great help. Just private message me
Craigslist near you. Hilton / Clarkston Add ID # 5591907093 Copy that number, go on Craigslist, auto parts, paste that number, see it, go buy it. Looks to be about 7 miles from you.
In Jersey but it's what ya need ..... you REALLY SHOULD put your request in the "WANTED" section here... http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/55-56-57-chev-rear.1016482/
Drifters I am gonna call him! Maybe he has 308. Skipperman thanks but unfortunately that's a 3.55:1. I have one of those on my shelf and I may just use it if I can't find a 308.
FYI gents I just took a lovely 10 mile ride with the 3.55s I had on my shelf. Being raised in the 90's and becoming a driver in the early 2000's has permanently ingrained in my brain that 2,000 rpms is the upper end of decent cruising.... So of course I will never be fully happy with 3.55s and a non-overdrive tranny (I am committed to the turbo 350 for many reasons). I think I am at 2650 at 60. I will say this: even without my kickdown cable hooked up, 55mph to 80 is a blur. This car is fun. Way way more powerful than I had aimed for. That said, I wanna keep this going. If anyone close bye (Rochester NY which is the north western corner of the state 350 miles out of the city) has 3.08 I want them. I may just drove far for some but not in the next couple weeks.
Still not giving up on this. I have some options in other states but if there is one on a shelf here in Rochester please let me know Thanks
Hey guys. I have to pull the axel shafts again and HOPE one of them damaged the o ring or had some contamination when I put it in (for an easy fix) cause it's leaking and it wasn't the first time I installed it. Could be that waking up a 60 year old bearing caused some immediate wear in which cash they need to be replaced and it's a Nightmare to do. All the old school nostalgic shops are saying they aren't set up to do it and the one that is is very, very expensive. If anyone in Rochester has a press that can handle the job and wants to do it/allow me to learn for a fair price, a PM would be great. Also, since they are coming out, I would be a great time to find the 3.08s Thanks
