Hey, I been listenin to you guys for years, just decided to jump into the mix- not much of a joiner, lifetime outsider. But I have an alterior motive, I need info about my new old car- a 47 Anglia Gasser that I am the new caretaker of. I purchased it from the widow of John Satterwhite, a drag racer from Jackson Mississippi. John was an olympic gold medalist in skeet shooting in the 60's. By all accounts a way CQQL guy, wish I coulda met him. I traded a BEAUTIFULL 66 Tempest convertible that I owned for 32 years for his gasser- that's how bad I have always wanted one..Anyway, any info on the history of this car will be appreciated. Thanks.. Bluemeany out
For starters, it is NOT a '47. 1948 was the first year for the trunk model E494A which is what this body style is. And that one is a 49 or later as it has the rectangular vents - 48's had what was called a Clam Shell. It kind of looks like a newer build with the Glass Sun roof in the filled roof, the non original style grille, what appears to be a steering rack and the Bolt On front 10 spokes.
***Yea you're probably right...the 57 Olds rear and 72 Vega tail lights indicate a newer build...Thanks for your expertise
Know nothing of it's history. I can tell that at one time it was orange, and at one time it was blue. It has an Arizona VIN number. The title calls it a 47
Get on Facebook, and look up " All Things Anglia ". I'm on that page. It's full of anglia owners and lots of knowledge. I found out a lot of history on mine from a couple guys on there.
