TGIF post, again from the RoyBoy archives. I agree with Ryan's recent essay, a damn pretty truck!

 

After all it is the holiday weekend to start the summer, eh? So why not some tasteful eye candy involving a 1940 Ford! Must be a SoCal car, no wipers. But the iconic headlights (no not hers) and grille are recognizable anywhere. Chromed Corvette valve covers and is that an Edlebrock cross ram? Old school including the color.
How many guys will have their '40s in Memorial Day parades? Some pix perhaps?

 

Hey olcurmdgeon, I don't know if you caught any of these that got shared on my FB profile, but since you are posting pinups today, here's one from a photo shoot that my '40 stake truck participated in. For the record...NO...I had not run the truck out of gas. LOL

Happy Memorial Day weekend to all my '40 Ford buddies. The old girl and I, being very close in age, will have a fun but sedate holiday. Traffic here in NH on holidays, we live near the seacoast, is crazy which is on top of NH being one of the "grayest" states given our large senior citizen population. People may fault my third brake light but believe you me it is essential around here! And let me add to all the veterans on the HAMB, thank you for your service from an MM1(SS), SubLant 1965-1971.

Up by an abandoned gas station around mile marker 145, on Interstate 44, at the Richland, MO exit. It does hint a bit towards "It's a girl, my Lord, with a flat bed Ford" though, doesn't it?

No, but due to my running the truck out of gas during the 2015 Stray Kat 500 award line, and then running dad's '34 sedan out of gas 2 Sunday's in a row, I am now regularly gigged by my hot rod buddies. Was just making it clear that this was a setup photo. LOL

 

good morning! If you see a guy, or gal, with a WW2 cap on this weekend, please take the time to thank them and shake their hand. They are a vanished breed who helped us enjoy the freedom we have today.

I love these old photos. The cars are all spot on in my eyes and form a huge part of the inspiration I use for my own convertible.

So after mining what I could from RoyBoy's archives, great stuff, I found a blog called "hotrodz and pinups". Now tough work in the morning looking at nubile young ladies and great cars, but someone has to do it. So here are some holiday pictures.

 

As I go through the "hotrodz and pinups" blog, I notice some real discriminatory treatment. The pinups are mostly with the '32 coupes and roadsters or with, dare I say it, the bikes, what the hell! Forty's are more curvy and blend with the female form better, imho. Anyway since it is a holiday, here are more.

pretty coupe, remember those snap in upholstery panels for shows back in the day? White running boards, whitewalls and baby moons, nerf bars, corvette tailights, Olds motor with three 94s, chrome oil filter housing, finned alum regulator cover. I dunno, speaks 60s to me. But the "pumpkin" color? Wish you could read the signboard, looks like car has some history, maybe a HAMB'r will remember it.

 

Not exactly stock. Just chopped, sectioned and channeled. Found in a barn in East TN, and restored.

Think this is John Geraghty's tube frame sleeper? Man what an elegant looking car. Ayala sure had a good eye...

Definitely Geraghty's. The 2nd picture below this one (in the post above) is the same car, but I don't know about any of the other shots.
