Having an issue with the passage door handle. It keeps sliding out. I have removed the handle and chrome base with spring and the small chrome ring. I see nothing that would secure the handle to keep it from sliding out. Can someone clue me on what is the trick to getting the handle to stay secure?

Pretty hard to help without pictures as I don't think many people know what a 47 dodge door handle looks like. Does it look like my 42 Dodge? If so, you can see where theres a hole in the end that a pin is used to secure handle.

You should be able to get parts from above link.

I thought you were talking about the inner door handle as per my picture.

Looks to me like the handle is held on to the door by the two screws. The round sleeve is supposed to slide on the handle shaft and was probably silver soldered on.

The square shaft rotates in and is supposed to be secured in the bezel. The screws secure the bezel to the door.

Ok so if I understand you correctly the round chrome device secures the handle to the bezel then you attach the complete unit to the door. I'll give it a try. I didn't notice any thing that indicated it had been soldered but all the pieces could have been new and never put together properly.

I'll let you know how it goes.

    Thanks for the help...

At the above link I gave you, you should be able to buy the door handle setup complete.
There is a piece that appears to be missing on your parts shown. It looks like a small ring that probably slides over the shaft and secures the setup. I'm guessing that it has those little fingers that allow it to go one way and not the next and it was removes, it was no good to use again. Why don't you remove the drivers side door handle for a better look.

As always you guys seem to lead me in the right direction. Your picture showing the round sliding clamping lock gave me the idea that the round chrome slide might be the lock and sure enough it was. I just used a deep 17mm socket and secured it over the handle shaft which then held the door handle to the escutcheon. Inserted the spring back in place and installed the screws locking the handle on the door perfectly.

    Really appreciate the help....
