By work do you mean keep water off the windshield? Sorry I just could not resist. I am not an expert on the subject but I am pretty sure that they changed the cowl in '39 to the later style cowl. That does not mean that they could not be made to fit and fit well but it may take a little patience to do it correctly.
Thanks, i realize that it is not going to be a 'bolt on' swap, i am more curious about the basic dimensions and and shape. I love '40's, and i need a 4 seater, but id rather have a slantback vs the 40 tudor back shape.
The basic shape should work on a mid '30s up Ford, I am not sure about the width of the hood, and you may need to juggle for the location of the fender wells. I think it is more than doable at least something that I would try if I had that option to work with.
I've seen it done with a '40 deluxe clip on a '37 coupe. It was a lot of work and (in my opinion) didn't look very good. I love the guy that did it like a brother, but I just didn't see the same vision that he did. Hope yours works out.
Just thinking our loud here. What about splicing the bodies behind the door to put the flatback section on the sedan?
The frames are the same, but the 35-36 body's are narrower. If you did it to a 37 it would be easy if you used the 40 cowl as well. Almost a bolt-on. Just cut the cowl at the windshield posts and right through the floor behind the cowl.
I let the pickup go so i could buy a family ride. I regret. The gentleman who bought it has just basically finished the restoration on it, and it looks fantastic.
I dont have either cars....yet....i was just thinking about what my next step could be, without having one of each side by side to measure and compare it could be pretty tough to figure out
