Motion Pictures Can anybody identify this tach from Mad Max?

I was watching mad max again tonight for about the 10th time and every time I see this tach I like it more and more, but I cannot seem to figure out if its an actual production gauge or not. If I had to guess I would say gmc heavy duty truck of some kind from the 50s, the lettering font matches my 55 2nd GMC so I would love to find one to put in it.

 

Smiths is an English gauges manufacturer that made gauges for all manner of European vehicles and the aftermarket. With a 4.5k redline, I'd ***ume a big truck or heavy duty application from the 1930s through the '50s.

Yea I get that its a Smiths gauge but not finding it come up for any trucks, closest I can find is a Jaguar Tach

 

How about a reverse action one?

Yea I found that one and a few others on eBay, turns out the gauge is from a Jaguar MkV from about 1950 give or take, the one in MadMax would be the US spec car as the tach sweeps left to right, and the ones I found on ebay sweep right to left, which is pretty cool. Still thinking about picking one up although they are far too big to run in my truck, these are somewhere around 5.5in in diameter and I have a spot for 3 3/8in, so if I want to run something like this it will need to be custom, I may attempt to make one myself to fit.

Couple of threads on here about dis***embling a new guage and just making a face that matches sweep and font you want.

 

Probably not much help but the font is the same on the gauges in my '62 LandRover. So they were likely being produced in the late 50's to early 60's
