Projects hotrod garages at night pic's

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by rubberrodder, May 31, 2016.

  1. Over on the garage journal board there is a similar thread. I was thinking a pic of your ride in your "Shrine to the Gods of speed" would be cool to do here as well.
I have been trying to find a particular picture of a young man with a '29 on 32 rails parked in the light of his one car garage. It was posted several years ago on here. It was a black and white shot, recent, but, looked like it could have been from 1954. Very cool picture.
How about some more pictures? Black and white, color, finished or not, digital or film.
    Let's see "em.

  10. Hi 383deuce,

The sign came from the Ford dealer in the town that I grew up in (Fred Sayre Motors in Ripley, WV). It was replaced with a newer sign in the 1960's and stored at Mr. Sayre's home, sitting in the weeds behind his garage. He was a family friend and knew of my interest in early Fords (I had a Model A Coupe in high school ..... still have it!). One day in the late 70's he sent a message for me to stop by his house for a visit. When I got there he asked if I would like to have the sign and the smaller "open face" neon that had hung in the showroom window. Both now proudly reside in my garage and are reminders of Mr. Sayre and memories of growing up in a small town. I made a tripod support for the sign and put wheels on it to allow for easy movement. Here are pics of the smaller sign and a shot of the Ford dealer in 1950 with the large sign visible above the showroom.

Yes, the car does actually fit, and yes, I built the car in there.

The Not Rod Grille sure knows how to attract us fireflies! That Ford neon is Real George!
Great story, and from your benefactor's side? You presented yourself as deserving of it.
    Congrats.
    Oh...nice garage and '34...
