I love the look of the WheelVintiques '35 Ford style spoke wheels, however I hesitate considering these wheels because of what I read on their website. The most prominent verbage, regardless of style of wheel is the fact the wheels are not returnable. Wow, there's a warning to stay away if I ever heard one.

Then they throw out the next sales prevention tactic in the form of what they call their warranty which is not a warranty at all, but rather nothing more than their terms and conditions... all of which make me wonder if I shouldn't look elsewhere.

So, I emailed WheeVintiques asking for price and delivery for 6x15 fronts and 8x15 rears, delivery time and a statement of the level of quality (remember, they have no warranty policy) I could be ***ured of receiving. I got pricing and four to six weeks delivery and nothing, nada, zip, zilch about the quality of their wheels.

Four to six weeks huh? That may not be enought time to get them made in China, but not too short a time to get them from South America -- you know, Made in America...

I'm wondering if any of you have experience with these wheels or could offer an alternative source of supply.

  2. I have sold many sets of their wheels. Good quality and the ship time was usually 2-3 weeks. They even did some custom adaptions of Packard caps to their street rod wire wheels for us. Nothing but positive to say about them.

I've got a buddy that works for WV---call and ask for Joe Berry--tell him Willie told you to call---he'll give you the lowdown on it.

I just ordered 2 steelies (wheel vintiques) through summit. I am gonna need 5 total, but figured I'll just order 2 untill I know for sure that they are going to work on my car. I'd rather be out $120 instead of $300!

I believe Stockton Wheel was doing short runs of redesigned Cord wheels, as the early versions of these 36/37 wheels were prone to cracking - so much so that Cord made a heavier wheel late in the run. So, if they were trouble, I don't thnik that the ACD folks would be ***ociated with them.

i hate sounding like a broken record, but you could order from Summit as another poster said, chances are you can get Summit to stand behind them. chances are WV has a strict warranty policy because of people returning wheels that they measured for wrong, or minor cosmetic flaws.

I ordered some of their baby moons for my coupe. I was disappointed to find out that they were cheap Taiwanese stuff. The chrome is not very shiny, and one of them dented when I put it on. I hope their wheels are better.

    Ditto

Order Wheel Vintiques through Summit Racing.... cheaper and FREE shipping.
I was very satisfied with WV chrome reverse.

My first order of chrome reverse was with Stockton Wheen. They ****. It took 4 times as long as promised, had to send one back due to poor chrome (dull and chipping). Plus high shipping costs.

About 4 years ago I ordered 4 Buick Skylark wheels from Wheel Vintiques. They came about a month later and when I tried to get them balanced one had the rim bent and the other had so much sideways runout that it shook the balance machine. It took another 2 months to get the 2 bad wheels exchanged. Thats my experience with them.

  15. I have bought a set up mopar rallyes from them in the past - they were great and I got them in three weeks - up here in canada. Wheels balanced ok and looked perfect.

I have had similar experiance as BJR on my chrome reverse rims i ordered them with both sides plated and they never plated the center hub so i sent them back 8 month ago and i'm still waiting for them!!!!!

  17. Summit is a no brainer. You might want to call Vintiques on the phone anyway and tell them what's on your mind. You might then be able to order just one wheel at first to examine to your satisfaction or money back. Just about every condition in life is negotiable in my opinion.
I am in agreement about "committing to own" before seeing it in the cold clear light of the morning after. It makes you feel like you're buying a timeshare or something.

And even if they are good wheels you still might come down with
"Il Remorsante al Langusta da Taglio". It literally translates from the Italian as "From the Pot Comes the Great Wailing of the Poached Lobsters", but it essentially means "buyers remorse" and then WTF?

Or just order from Summit and enjoy a cold beverage and a refreshing cigarette while you wait.

**** Stockton. Ordered wheels, call a week later to check on them, tell me it is going to be 30-40 days, after they have charged my credit card. So, I call back the next day, and cancel them. It has been over a week since I cancelled them, and they still haven't credited my card yet.

Have called several times, and get different excuses each time. From my experience they blow.

Never had any experience with Stockton, but I've ordered 2 full sets of steelies from WV, like everyone said...2 - 3 weeks shipping, no problems whatsoever with the wheels. I like em.

I've ordered steel wheels from WV for two cars. In both cases they were custom widths and offsets, and combined rims and centers from different manufacturers. Perfect every time.

"Newstalgia Wheels" sells Wheel Vintiques wheels. They have a 100% money back guarantee if you're not satisfied. Go to newstalgiawheel.com .It's an excellent site. Coker tire also has an excellent return policy and quick delivery.... cokertire.com I've bought about 7 sets of wheels and tires from Coker and they're very customer oriented.....Mike

I have received excellent customer service and products from W.V. They were quick to ship and one time brought a set to a Good Guys event for me to pick up, with no shipping charge. The wheels I have purchased have been true, balanced easily and were a great quaility product. Check their web site, they may have a display at an event near you.

I have ordered 8 sets from WV and never had an issue, and 7 were custom ordered. There main concern was always, as someone stated earlier, that someone wont measure correctly. I had to wait recently for center caps that were supposed to arrive with the wheels we ordered, but other than that they have been great. Good luck~

  25. got my chrom rev 15x7's from Summit fast- like 3 days, but have been waiting over 4 weeks for the 14x6's , both sets are off the shelf sizes, summit says that 14's are not as popular as the 15" sizes, so they do not stock em- just a heads up

i sell wheels vintiques products at my shop, and i have sold many sets to many hambers here,.....never had any problems, and the wheels are high quality.

they DO NOT MAKE THIER WHEELS IN CHINA OR AFRICA. i have toured their facility, they build all in house, and chrome in house as well as powdercoat in house, they actually do some of the best powdercoating i have seen from a wheel manufacturer.

very good product, and honestly if your that scared to buy em,..dont! keep steppin. you WILL NOT find a warranty on custom order wheels from any wheel manufacturer, but if you have finish issues they will stand buy it

also they always tell you a longer lead time for deliver than it ends up being. i order a **** load of 15x5's which they always have to build, and i get the 2 weeks deal, but i usually get them within the same week (if i order them on monday)

"they DO NOT MAKE THIER WHEELS IN CHINA OR AFRICA...." et al.

That's right, they don't make their wheels in China or Africa. I know they don't make them in China and I never said they made them in Africa. You said that, however I'm sure you didn't mean Africa. I know they make/***emble them at their California facility, however I wonder if the rims and centers come from some other country like one of the several comprising South America?

We've heard here their caps or moons come from China according to one less-than-totally-satisfied-consumer.

Additionally, we've had some strong recommendations in favor of Wheel Viniques. So, why do they choose not to make a tangible statement regarding quality and why don't they back it up with a warranty?

I ordered my WV chrome reverse with custom back spacing, took about 6 weeks to get here (Canada) but I am very happy with them, no problems at all.

I have used and sold dozens of WV wheels, mostly the Gennies, and have never had a problem. Their powder painting is as good as anywhere, and all the wheels have been straight and easy to balance.

I'm running a set of steelies on my 51 from WV, glad I ordered them thru my local tire dealer. Went to "America's Tire Company" for a quote and it was 4-5 bucks higher than WV's magazine ad so ATC beat the pize by a few bucks and ate the shipping costs. First set came in with too small centers and wouldn't mount on the car. ATC ordered another set and they're great. However ATC got stuck with the original set as WV refused to take them back, a friend of mine ended up buying them almost a year later for $15 a wheel as ATC got tired of having them around. So sometimes it pays to have a good relation with a local shop rather than trying to save a few bucks on mail order.

    My 2 cents...........
