Saw this picture today, and as I grew up by Lake Geneva really brought back some fond memories !! So I thought I would share.. These boats are a long lost art..
We had a 70 HP Mercury outboard like that one, ran on 24 to 1 fuel oil mix and smoked like a mother! Had no gearbox, you started it in gear. For going from forward to reverse you shut it off and the starter spun it the other direction. And they were LOUD, no underwater exhaust through the prop. Very traditional!
Sliding tube under the trailer with the hitch lets you move the boat back keeping the car out of the water. Converted many of them . .
Holy Crap, I love that set up! I will donate my kidney to the lush willing to trade for that boat and heap....
