I've got a 1950 shoebox with a model 7RT carb. I picked up a GP Sorensen 96-478 rebuild kit from advanced auto parts, but it says it is for Holly carb models: AA-1, 2100, 2110. Will this carb kit work on mine? If not anyone know where I can pick one up? Thanks!

Try Ken Isadore in Stratford Ct., Email: igadore@sbcglobal.net, he will put together a home brewed kit for you and has a great deal of knowledge on these carbs.

    sweet pea,

The 7rt carb that is on your motor is a carb originally from a truck motor. Not that it matters all that much as long as the throttle is free.

The rebuild kit you purchased will work. The AA-1 refers to the carb base style. The rebuild kit should have come with a new accelerator pump, proabably rubber...they ****.

There are tons of places on the net for information..maybe even search the tech archive. If you are running the stock distributor make sure to hook up the vacuum line.

This might help you some. It says it's a "typical" carb. You may not have everything in this exploded view but this is how it's put together.

Thanks, that is what I needed to know. I got it to run by pouring gas down the carb, but I thought I should do it right and rebuild.

  6. In yer kit, you get an accellerator pump.

Some are made of leather, some rubber. Make dang sure you have a rubber one. the leather ones fail.

    Vintage Speed sells them.

AA-1 is the holley designation for the whole family of carbs with numerous minor variants covered by the same kit.

Is that kit available through Napa? I lost the box end that I had with the part number on it, but I think it might have come from there. We don't have Autozone up here:D

NAPA has them--just go to their site and search for a '47 Ford or whatever. Their kit has gaskets and specs for all versions of the tribe.
