I have a 51 coronet with a gryomatic it slips in high gears then grabs should I start with clutch or test solenoids does anyone knows easy way to test it. Also does anyone have pictures of how the solenoids are wired to circuit breaker and carb. I have some pics of where I am on wiring. I'm also looking for parts and anywhere that sells old dodge stuff

Sounds more like clutch is slipping than an electrical problem. There is a fluid coupling behind the engine, with a manual clutch attached to the backside of the coupling. That clutch is not as 'beefy', as I recall, as a regular manual transmission clutch.

In lower gears, moving the car is easier and the clutch doesn't slip, but in 3rd or 4th, and the clutch is carrying a greater load.......and if worn, will slip. That's my take, based on the information provided.

Start by checking the oil level in the Fluid Drive unit and in the transmission. They are separate but both take the same oil, 10W motor oil or TDH tractor fluid, ISO22 or ISO32 grade.

The trans and Fluid Drive are the same as used in Chrysler and DeSoto in the late 40s - early 50s. Simple and rugged and not hard to service or fix if you get to know them.

There have been TONS of threads on this board and on the AACA Chrysler board if you look. I have worn out my fingers typing out the same info at least 100 times so PLEASE search first.

There are several suppliers of parts for older Mopar vehicles. Andy Birnbaum, Kanter and a few more I can't readily recall at the moment. Hemmings Motor News has many ads and an online search may be useful. and the P15-D24 group, mentioned in above post, is also a good place to go for info for cars of your era.

I had a '51 Dodge with Gyromatic about 20/25 years ago so it has been awhile since I had to source parts.....but they are out there.
