Just brought home wife's 55 from 6 yr sleep. Gotta get it going. Bought in 77 for $800 in Fresno from the original owner-last painted in 85 uph from 79--has a 350HP 327 for the last 30 yrs. Still a good ol car. Reshot the front clip a few yrs before it was put away. She drove it for years as her main car.So this will keep me busy for a few weeks til I find another 40 coupe.
She ran this car regularly at Sears Pt and Fremont a lot in the early 80's and drove it daily.

Another of my favorite cars! It should keep you entertained until you find another 40 to play with.

Probably start using it again-not going anywhere. Sold my black 57 Fuely last year after 38 yrs but this one is staying. At thurs nite drags it ran 14's off the street. Best was mid 13's with 4:56 gears and bigger carb and open headers-Fremont-1982. Ran it there in 85 too along with the 57 Fuely ( the 55 was faster than the Fuely in the 1/4)-last time she ran it was late 80s at Super Chevy sunday at Sears Pt . Was freshend up a year before it went in storage. Has a very stout 327(began as L79) that was in the track champ street stock at Lakeport Speedway in 80-81. Some years back (2003) we took it and my 62 340HP Corvette to a local show. When we left at a light she said "I'm faster than you" Ran em 3 times up to about 70-could hang with her til mid way thru 2nd and she walked away-couldn't believe it!! And her 70 yr old mother was in the Vette with me having a fit!! Back when it was her regular car and she ran it a lot it was hard on rearends even thought it was an auto-put in many 3rd members and finally switched to an early 12 bolt posi about 84-85. It has some neat parts on it that were swap meet junk in the early 80's like L79 intake, DZ 302 distributor and a set of Vette valve covers I bought in 66. Article shows it as it is now and at a show in 1981.

How the heck did you leave that car dormant for 30years? Mercy I wouldn't want to stop driving long enough to eat! Joe

Now that is what a 55 Bel Air is supposed to look like. There was a black one here locally in the 60's that had a hot small block in it that was on my "coolest cars around list" when I was in my teens.

Where has it been in storage? To put a car like that away would be hard for me to do. I'd be checking on it every day. Nice color and stance. I am Butch/56sedandelivery.

You know after three posts you are expected to show photos of that L-79.
What trans you got behind it?

Will do--kinda dirty now--all the yrs she ran it it had a built iron glide-now has OD trans that we put in when we freshened it up about a year before it went into hiding.--she swears it was faster with the glide.
