Here she is kids. A combination of a lot of input from a lot of users. We may not always have the time to respond but we always listen. The new format will help out with alot of past issues. 1. You no longer have to include FS/WTB in the ***le as it is now a given. 2. We don't have to guess at the price as it is a required field. 3. There will be no flaming as replies to ads are not an option. 4. People who have limited time to check the Cl***ifieds will be able to do so much easier because BTTT's are no longer possible. We believe these changes will make the cl***ifieds more effective as they will eliminate alot of wading through junk to see whatis posted. Every ad you see since the last time you were on will be a fresh ad. Use this post to ask questions, discuss concerns. Remember this is a work in progress....
So if I see an ad and do not have time to respond or realize that I need something I saw for sale yesterday, I will not be able to go back and look at the ad?
this will take some getting used to but it sure does go by faster. Its alot easier to browse. However, is there a reason to still have the last post column listed. Isnt the seller the only person with a post. That would make them the thread starter and last poster. good work guys.
I put up an ad, very easy to do. I did want to mention something that happened though. I put in "Parts" and $250 for "Price". I chose to preview my ad before posting. I then clicked submit. I got an error message and had to click back so that I could re-enter the values for "Type of item" and "Price" in order to proceed. It does not remember your selections when you preview.
There is no easy way to do this without it being the same on all forums. It could be done with some serious hacking but the result is not worth the risk.
Sure, you can go back and see it... we aren't deleting ads... we just aren't allowing replies or btt posts... just do a search and you will find the ad again.
Can you make it so that when a potential buyer sends a PM from the ad page, the PM automatically gets the subject line from the ad? That would cut down on a lot of potential confusion.
i think its kool.i love the fact that you put up some for sale or wanted and you can keep the ***holes away who cant say anything nice about anyone off the ads. i would also like to see a direct link to PMs so it cuts down on confusion. Good job!!!
There are two reply ****ons available when you choose to preview an ad. Could you have hit the wrong one?
every ad must have the price in the ***le? what about "cleaning out the garage" type sales where a guy posts 10-12 items for sale? does this mean he has to take the time and make out 12 seperate ads? and if 2 or 3 or more people have multiple items for sale, won't that push the ads off the top page faster? seems to me that in less than a week, a guys ad can go from the top to being buried 20 pages deep. and then he has to fill out a new ad instead of bringing the old one back to the top. i miss the old system already.
If you have multi parts for sale and you know the prices are between 10 and 150 dollars just put $10. - $150. in the price field. Cool?
There's a "send PM" ****on in the bottom of every post. If you mean a PM thing that auto-***les, I don't know how that would work. We can't do everything for ya!
looks good just one suggestion, on each listing on the page has the item and price beneath the ***le like this: Selling: Car Price: $2500 i think having another field for Location: would make it even easier and faster to find stuff
Looking great fellows! One thing I would like to see is a place to check an add read. That way I would not be looking at the same add over and over. May not be possible, just a thought.
Like 'rash said they can't do everything for ya. Select the option that sez "mark forum as read" and have at it. Wanna see it a different way? Just use the bottom "Forum jump and hit the "go" box and yer back on the 1st page. There's a lot of ways to do it. Good job kidz!! I think me likes it!!.
Would there be a way that a seller could post the questions asked from other people, with the answers? Kind of like the way ebay does it. We usually all have questions about an item, and a lot of the replies that used to get posted would answer some of those questions for us. Otherwise, I like it. -Brad
The seller can edit the original ad to include what they like. They can also reply to their own ad but we'd rather use the edit right now until we work out a couple bugs. Once we fix a thing or two the replies may disapear. It's a work in progress....
Any chance of catagories? eg....cars, projects, parts, bikes, tools.....? It would make find what you want real easy.
My opinion (for what it's worth--and that ain't much) is to not have different categories, simply because a lot of times we don't know we're looking for something until we see that one's for sale! Case in point, the '62 Suburban I bought from the cl***ifieds. I wasn't really looking for anything other than keeping it in the back of my mind that we'd be needing a new car in the family at some point in the not-to-distant future. I wasn't actively searching. When I saw the ad for the Suburban, I checked it out and ended up buying it. We've probably all done that with parts and stuff. -Brad
