Pretty cool. What's the story on it? If he's in CA and you're in NC where did he sign it at? Did you used to live in CA? Whose truck is it? Did you get an A in the cl***?

I grew up in Dayton Ohio, George was at a show in Louisville, Cinnci or Indy. I met him several times. I had seen the R&C Dreamtruck at the first leadsled in 81 and fell in love with it as a kid. a lot of customizers worked on that truck in the 50's and Barris was one of them. I took the paper to the show for some reason and showed it to him. he thought it was kool. the paper was some kind of writing project and the teacher gave me an A+. she was a tough one too.

When I was a kid, living on Pease AFB, NH, I took a book from the Base Library written by George Barris on how to customize cars. So I took it to the Boston World of Wheels car show (not sure of the name of the show, but it was in Boston) and had him sign it. He look over the book and saw the Base marking of the library inside the cover, and said, "Hey this has to go back to the library in a few days", he took a piece of paper from his shirt pocket and sign it for me. It turn out to be his motel bill. Since the base has been turned over to the National Guard and the library closed, I wonder where that book is now.

haha. that's me with the red shirt around my waste, mudslinger is the orphan on the left. we stayed after the show and listened George tell stories. at the time he told me it would cost $10,000 to duplicate that truck to primer. at 15 that was all the money in the world. he was always real nice to us. a couple years ago I sent him the picture above and a current one of me and my 39 ford conv. chopped, channeled, carson top..... his daughter wrote my a real nice letter back.

I really liked George, every now and then someone would quote something they had heard, I would call Junior Conway tell him their story then p*** my cell to them. Junior would set them straight. I was/am lucky to call George, Junior, Larry Watson , **** Jackson, Dean Jefferies, Bill Hines, And Gene Winfield as friends. And I BELEIVE the custom car world would be a lot different without George. And I'm sure all the above would say the same if they could. That was quite a group.
