Hi all. Where do you guys put your horn? I like the clean firewall look, but can't seem to find another good spot. I have a 28 Roadster. Thanks!

I seem to put them under the car, p***enger side near the transmission using the same space as the master cylinder but on the opposite side of the car.

  4. A picture of your car would be nice. Without a picture I would say hang it under the headlight if it looks like an original horn.

  5. well, I don't have a horn on my car but after seeing Canuck's set up I may have to install one. Very nice!

Stringent safety inspection here before you can register a car. Horn, Turn Signals, Seat Belts, Mufflers, indicator lights are a requirement.

Put it where it fits. Get one that gets attention. Not a damn "AhooGa" horn. Those make people laugh. I don't want laughs, I want people to get the f*ck out of the way.

Sorry for the delay... I was transfixed on tfeverfred's avatar for a couple of days there...

Yes, it is for a safety inspection in early July. I found a couple of late '30s horns at the junkyard. Both are honk, not Ahooga. I am going to go to the right of the transmission as suggested with a straight horn. Obviously, it needs some work, but it's pretty loud.
(Going to use the one on the right)

    Thanks everyone!

    Yep, same here. Like this:

It's just a cheap $5.00 swap meet horn, kinda cheesy sounding, but it works.

I have two horns. One normal, one Augah both mounted under the floor. Doulble throw switch selects which one to use. Kids like to hear Augah, Driving in traffic select normal.

  16. I also have two horns. The "real" horn is wired through the horn ****on on the steering wheel and I have to reach for another ****on to get the ahooga. If I am in a panic I don't want to fool around.

In my coupe I've mounted one inside my right front wheel well beside the tire. Placing it backwards as to not pick up spray. Been there 15 yrs.

Dicer - glad ya worked it out.
In the '57, a pair of GM '60s horns are hidden in the air ducts behind the headlights.

Funny I was just thinking about this yesterday. I bought a bull horn and was all excited to install it, it's huge though- but since I'm running a hood I tucked it up on the firewall so it's hard to see, painted black too of course.

Problem is, that I have the single ground running form the wheel and the horn being a one wire grounds out when you mount it. I'm trying to figure out how to ground it out inside via wire connection but am not having much luck, I though I had it but no dice.

Long short make sure you can get a compatible horn. This is a royal pain to rewire (I'm not that great with electrical)

Horn ****on grounds to activate a relay, Relay provides power to horn that grounds through mount.
