Hey Guys... Got a question. I got my '41 Chevy on the road and put together and sold it to a guy from Japan. He paid the FULL cash price within 24 hours but now I cant get a reply from him. The car has been sitting in my garage for about 5-6 weeks since payment was given, but the guy wont email me back. I don't have a phone number. Anyone have any ideas on what I can do... I am not too stressed because I have payment, but on the other hand the liability and the taking up space is starting to bother me. I am looking for real suggestions... I am at a loss on what to do... Thanks, Hyfire
i also sold a 32 pickup to a guy in Japan, same deal paid me and wala no response , he finally surfaced and took the car. just hang tight he will show
I can see this is going down hill.... Fast... I guess I am willing to wait a couple more weeks, but man... what do I do then. I just dont see many options, and I dont want to be a di*k to the guy.
have dealt with the japanese many times, they are very 'Honorable" once a deal is struck they consider it to be done, relax its paid for he will surface. did he wire the money to you if so you can trace him easy
No phone #?? Google his name or address you never know it may show up,I dont know if its international.
I've learned the hard way and understand how you feel. After having buyers leave their purchases for over a year. When I sell something now,I tell the buyer up front how long he has before it goes in to storage charges. Hopefully the guys is on the way. I would think he is having a heck of a time getting every thing set up to get it out of the country.
Cruzr is right. The Japanese are very honorable. And, the most honest people on Earth. I say this having been to Japan a couple of times on business deals, though some years ago. I would have to assume something has gone amiss on his end... illness, family problem, job travel, etc. Do try to follow up including contacting the Japanese Embasy in L.A. (http://www.la.us.emb-japan.go.jp/e_web2003/e_home.htm) at 213-617-6700 and the American Embassy in Tokyo ... you'll have to Google that one, I don't have all this shit memorized. On the other hand, had this been some diaper-head from Saudi, I'd say, Let's Party!
This isn't one of them deals where he paid more than you asked and requested you send him back part of it is it? Because that is a well known scam.
If he paid in full I wouldn't worry, just a guess but maybe he is arranging with a container company and plans it fill it with other cars & parts. I know the Australians have an arrangement were they get a container packed with a lot of different buyers parts and save on shipping with a full load.
Send him an email informing him that storage is $50 a day and you can store it as long as he keeps payments timely!
