I currently have these wheels on my truck. I love the look of black wheels with the chrome center cap like this Will I be able to add center caps to my wheels? How will I know if they will fit or not? Thanks in advance.
those wheels look like the take common 10-1/2" snap on hub caps, like were used on Chevy cars from 1954 till the 80s. If the hubcaps have a smaller inner ring like this, they will NOT fit those wheels.
Those nubs that stick out will hold a hubcap on, you need to measure the diameter of the raised ridge (not including those nubs) and compare them to the opening in the backside of hubcaps until you find a match. The original caps on those trucks had clips on the inside that held them on, so those will not fit your current wheels, but there were caps that will fit those wheels and will give the same look. If you knew what vehicle your steel wheels were originally installed on, that would help.
look for a little stamp on the wheel, near the center, it will either say GM or FoMoCo that will tell you what brand it is. They look to me like GM wheels, but I could be wrong.
You need some old wheels. The '80s type you have aren't going to make it .... Since you no longer have the 6 lug pattern, you'll have trouble getting factory Chev pickup caps to fit on 5 lug Chev wheels. Some companies sell caps that fit your current wheel, quality is what we expect from the Chinamen ...
Thanks for the replies. I'm not looking for original hubcaps just something smooth and chrome. The cheaper the better. Just want to make sure they'll fit before I buy them. This is for my 52 Chevy
http://www.ebay.com/itm/272283270774 these are probably what you want, but they're kind of hard to find. There's probably something new you can buy, but I'm not up on many new parts.
I measured and they are in fact the 10 1/8" nubs. So I plan on ordering some baby moons. Is there a consensus best brand of baby moon to get? I was looking at Wheel Vintiques but there are a few companies that make them.
i may be wrong , but in that first picture it doesn't look like the wheel is fully seated against the brake drum.....the center of the wheel looks too small to go over the center register of the axle or maybe there is a wheel spacer being used?
I like the smooth look of a baby moon, and I've been contemplating getting them for my OT Scandinavian Hot Rod. They appear to be the same size as your rims. All the Swedish car mags I get has adds for them. I go have a look, when I get home from my vacation tonight. And let you know what is what
These are the caps you want: http://www.ebay.com/itm/VINTAGE-NEW...ash=item4b01cd65ce:g:e3gAAOSwc1FXYb37&vxp=mtr
