I'm trying to contact Turner Plates to purchase a set of very nice 1930 Texas plates they advertise on their site to use on my '30 Model A rod. They have no phone contact info, only email. They have not answered 3 emails I have sent. Does anyone know anything about these guys? Are they still in business? Any other place anyone can recommend to get a clean set of 1930 Texas plates? Thanks for any and all help.

I get all my YOM tags off of eBay. There are several 1930 Texas tags on there right now.

I tried to order a plate from Turner Plates about a month ago with no luck at all. Then tried a guy Chucksplates.com and recieved the plate I wanted with great service.

  4. I have purchased old plates off of eBay several times and I am pleased with what I got.

If my mind serves me correctly, in 1930 Texas had front and rear plates and they were marked as such. I don't know if running an old "front" plate on the back will pass mustard today but I'd try to find a "rear" plate. They are out there.

This is my best plate: [IMG]32 Arkansas Tag 54 by Formerly JimboT, on Flickr

  5. Texas requires you use the correct plates. One front one rear. If you need them restored look up Katfish on here. He is located in Fort Worth. Does very good work quickly. Texas you can do Antique year of model good for five years no inspection. Are you do them classic. Also classic and they will issue a classic plate. You only have to run one if you use their classic issued plate.

One suggestion. Before you purchase a plate, run the plate by DMV to make sure it's a useable number. No sense purchasing a plate that you can't use.

I plan on registering the car in Texas as a antique. As previously stated, it's cheap, good for 5 years, and no inspections required. They will provide a "antique auto" plate, but I would much prefer a real 1930 plate. In that year, Texas did issue plates marked front and rear, and in order to use real 1930 plates on the car, Texas requires both plates at the time of registration. I can't find a pair for the life of me. I have been looking on eBay, but can't find a pair, at least a pair that looks restorable. Turner has a very noce pair, but they don't respond. I sent a email to Chucks Plates, but he doesn't respond either. I guess I'll just keep looking on eBay and hope, unless anyone has a better suggestion.

  8. Are you also using the "wanted" section of fordbarn.com for your search?

I've not tried that, Charlie. Thanks so much for the suggestion. I'll try that now.
