In the last couple of days I've seen at least a dozen references to Don Fromader's article on a 315 hemi build, supposedly on a website called webrodder.com. I've been to this website a couple of different times and no such article is to be found there. I'd be much obliged if someone had a copy of that article and would email it to charleypete1957@yahoo.com. Thanks so much!

What ever happend to ole Doc? I used to enjoy reading his Alternitive Engine series in STREET RODDER. Somebody on here awile back was saying he took a lot of credit for stuff he didn't do.
Yeah, I just tried webrodder.com again. No workey. Then went and downloaded the latest version of Adobe Flash and tried again. Same ol' thing - An Error Occurred. So, if anybody knows someplace else on them there interwebs where I can find this article, I'd sure like to know about it. Thanks again!

Hey 73RR, we all need a little hand-holding sometimes. Actually, just watching for things I might need to look out for specifically for this engine. Every one is different, and each has their little quirks. I'm in the process of acquiring a 315 hemi right now, and just preparing for the possibility of rebuilding it. This looks like a pretty decent little article. Even I can understand it, it's got pictures!! Thanks, we all appreciate it!!
From what I remember of the article, the most important point was that the stock compression on the 241 hemi was about 7-1 and he got some custom pistons made with modern low-tension piston rings with compression between 9 and 10 to 1.
actually it's advertised C/R is 7-7.1:1, it measured out @ 6.19! He used an exotic cam & stroker crank, most everything else was fairly routine. Put screw in plugs in weep hole in the lifter bores, can't remember why.
I know Doc's IT guy got irritated with him & quit & the site was down for a while & had been back for a while, guess it's back down.
Some of the site works ok. I can get the index of the articles, just can't get any of the installments of the article to display. The search function is very picky too.
As I remember Doc did both a baby 241 Dodge and a raised block 315 Dodge. The big Dodge had its crankshaft off set ground and used Chevy rods from a 292 six I think. But the part that really got me interested was the one off (i.e. expensive) hydraulic roller lifter camshaft. Too bad it takes buckets of cash in large denominations to attempt to replicate most of his builds. Still like reading his stuff, but haven't checked out his site in several months. -Dave
