Congratulations on a happy ending! It's nice when you tear something apart and it actually works better when you are done.

You a truly an inspiration. What you have accomplished with what little you had to work with is amazing. It's the way cars used to be built by kids in their driveway. We need more of that.

    Hello Guys,

Yesterday, i sat next to the Fregate about 2 hours, watchin' some details. And, i not happy about my ghost scallops on the top......i need to have something more clean, i'm not happy about the sticker name, and i want something successful and better finished. More 50's style.

So, i have decided to paint the roof again......totaly, no flames or scallops, no stickers.....before start this new modication, i'm looking for parts.....the pics here are a test with duct tape. I want to put a molding to delimitate the two differents colors.....maybe a red metal flakes on all the roof, and the doorposts.....what do you think about....:)

I like the moulding, kinda looks similar to a Merc. I don't think a tutone would work on your car. Why not try the photoshop thread and see if they can do some renderings for you?

If you have any doubts as to what you have already done to your little car just go back and compare the pictures of what you started with, not many people have that type of vision or ability to pull it off as well as you did. Especially with the limited amount of tools and working outside under a beach umbrella instead of a shade tree!

  11. Ratty: Why not have Moose photoshop you car with different colors on the top to help you decide? Seems red is a little too far around the color wheel to work with the current color. Maybe gold??? Tim

I would think a pearl off-white with a light orange flake. Doing a two tone without trim all the way from one side to the other around the rear window will be tough.

Actually, I think if you repainted your scallops in the aforementioned off-white I think would look really clean. Look through some of the custom threads for scallop jobs on cars similar to yours. Keep up the awesome work!

I don't think it's a good idea to mix aluminum and copper with coolant. Electrolysis can be a bitch. Anyway if it's just to drive it until the engine swap. What engine did you plan to drop in there?

No problem, almost every modern engine today have parts with both alu and copper in cooling systems.

Only radiator coolant, never water anymore;). Crisp, i don't know yet about the futur engine....;)

Guys, you understand my trouble, it's not easy to "do it again", and i know, when i read all your positive reaction about my work, that i have doing the best i can.....but i want to push the limit....i know that i can do better for the global paint aspect, and my car is park outside, and there is too much stickers on my car...i allways put a cover, but with the rain, sunshine, humidity, is not the good deal to keep something new in the futur...for me, only paint is the best way.

I know guy's that you have a good vibration about my car, that's because i want to listen everybody to fix my choice. The tutone it's not define, copper, green, red, candy, pearl, flake, i don't know....actualy, i'm just try to define the limitation or the possible style.....if two tone, i must ad a molding (no?)....i try to find.....
But, if your feedback is "Frexit;););)", i can revise my point of view. But i want more about the actual looking....

Maybe a molding all around, it's better for tutone....no? (don't forget, that is just fix with tape;))

Of course Katuna, i'm agree with you.....but i do not mentaly visualize the final result...i need help;). Thanks Timwhit, i follow your proposal....i asked themoose:)

Kudo on getting it all back in shape. I agree with you that a simple paint scheme will look best. I think aThe belt moulding wrapping around there rear window over the cat walk would look cool. keep up the great work!

    Absolutely:)

  27. All in one's sense of artistic taste, but I think it looks the best with one color, body and roof. The trim strip makes it look more finished, but I like that color all over.

Well, you can't win them all! I'm in agreement on the off white. However, I think it the door tops and the surround around the quarter Windows was the body color, it wouldn't look so overwhelming. With the dark color I think it would look better the way it's pictured.

I wonder if it had the trim work around the rear window and painted a little lighter shade of orange with a medium flake.
