I know what it is, but I never saw or heard (no pun intended) of one of these things until my really cool dad-in-law gave it to me. Anybody want to take a guess?!!! The contents of that little jar (Collars) is used with the little thingamajig next to the jar. Travis
Looks like some type of swedging tool--do the dies change & you hit it with a hammer--(not to be confused with a H.A.M.B.er)
Damn I must be living under a rock!!! You guys all know this stuff and I never knew until it was handed to me and was told about it. yeah!! Exactly!!! You're supposed to clamp the square end into a vise, stick in a cable and use one of the collars in the hole and you smack the shit out of it on the top (so Junkman is right, too!!!) until you get a square end with a collar on it. You can make your own speedo cables with it!! Travis
Don't feel too bad--It looked like a cable swedger I had one time so I wasn't dead on-- What I can't believe is two of us answered you at 1:30 AM in less than 10 min. after you posted.
eh, don't feel bad, just a lucky guess! i've never seen one before, but figured it looked like a crimping tool of some sort, and it occured to me what needs a nice square crimp....a speedo cable. even losers get lucky sometime.
LOL... Only 11:30pm here... But NOW I am off to bed!! He gave me some more car-related stuff and some of it looks like stuff a gynecologist would use (not that I personally know)... Travis
I once unfortunately bought the world's cheesiest knockoff of that...a speedo cable I bought turned out to be universal fit (I should have known when the parts man didn't blink at "'48 Ford"). It contained a thin piece of steel with a hole in it the shape of the dies on your monster crusher there and a slot from said hole out to edge. The crudely printed directions named it as a cable die and suggested putting it in a vise and whacking it with a hammer to lick on the cable end. I don't think I actually tried it...
