I ran across this unusual Dealership sign yesterday,I've never seen this one in the past.

It appears to have some neon,I bet it looks good at night. HRP

Saw this sell for $2600.00 this past weekend at an auction in LeRoy, IL. It was good looking and in great condition with all of the hanging hardware included.

Im going to build my own pre neon, incandesent bulb Ford sign(somewhwere in the 1923 to 1927era) I found 5 boxes of small led x-mas lights that are shaped like Edison bulbs. At least I say Im going to build it.

A few I picked up years ago. They are hand painted on wood from a dealer that was on Good Hope Rd. in SE Washington DC.

  14. Here are some pics of my two original Ford dealer signs that came from Fred Sayre Motors in Ripley, WV. The large 2-sided neon hung from the front of the building until it was replaced in the 1960's with a newer sign. The "open face" sign hung in the showroom window until the 1970's. Both were given to me by Mr Sayre prior to his death many years ago. They both hold a place of honor in my garage.

Kaiser must have made a bunch of those signs. For what today is a lesser known make, I have seen a bunch of those Kaiser Frazer signs around.

  18. I want to design and build one for my hopefully future hot rod business - I'd like it to have a cool atomic/googie/jet-age look to it.

Dad's Auburn torn down in front of the sign I had made as a copy of the one pictured below in Salt Lake City with OJ Wilkinson and Ab Jenkins. The louvers on the transmission cover denote this was one of the Cords run on the salt flats for promotional speed records.

My wife in a junkyard near Phoenix in the late-80's, as I recall. Went there on vacation and I dragged her to a junkyard! She's still with me, so it couldn't have been too bad.......

  23. I posted this on a different thread before. But it is so cool, and has always been on this old dealership in our town. A grandson restored the building and sign. Ron... 014.jpg

This giant (20ft) Streng Oldsmobile sign sits at an antique shop in Buffalo Ny, priced at 5k a few years ago. streng_sign.jpg

  30. I took this picture almost 30 years ago, it was a wall on the local GM dealership that was covered by aluminum siding for probably 30 years before that. Too bad the reason it was exposed was because they were tearing the whole place down. A week after I took the picture the building was gone. Now stands a multi-plex theater in it's place. Huh, oh well.
