    Hours?
    Labor?
Look in your flat rate book.
It'll tell ya it takes two and a half hours to repar a fender and that's all the insurance companies will pay ya.
    Oh...
    You talking about your HOBBY?
    HOBBYs are "off the clock".

  6. I'm not going to punch a time clock unless someone is going to pay me,
Impossible for me to estimate as time flys when I'm assholes and elbows into my my playtime.
all the major work on my 54 GMC was done in 31 days. long hours and two hard working youngsters helping.

my 48 ford three window HEMI powered coupe is about to come out front and center for a final thrash to get it back on the road after sitting in the corner for 13 years

you have to have a plan of what you want done, than always think one step ahead,so you won't have to redo anything. And it always depends on the condition of the car. alot of hiden rust, you may take off a panel and find that you have to repair something else. take your time and do it rite the first time. you are not on a T.V show.

I learned a long time ago not to so much keep track of time as much as dollars invested for personal projects. Reason being it would scare the bejesus out of ya and you may never do another one!!!!!

All the spare hour hours I can spend on it for the last three years, thats how many hours I have in mine. A better question is how many minutes a day do you spend not thinking about your project, very few I would imagine.

  13. 38 15 hour days in a row........
6 months of trying to fix all the half ass shit that i hurried through to get it to hunnert

and another thing that i have learned... everything takes at least an hour.. changing a bolt at least an hour...making a bracket for your pound puppies lunch box at least an hour

  14. Two things I never do 1 is keep before and after pictures and 2 is keep track of something I don't have to.:D

I did look once at the time invested in a paint job on a show car, it was somewhere in the neighborhood of 2500 hours. Scared the hell right out of me.

I do know this I used to do an engine swap in a weekend, my last one took me 6 months.Actual Hours? probably a little more than twice what it used to take me.

But someone said this, " I'm not as good as I once was but I'm as good once as I ever was." I don't think he was talking about cars though.;)

My first engine swap took two days, from friday morning till saturday night...and I did sleep in there somewhere.

My 57 suburban has been taking 8 years so far, it only has a few more to go.

I built my 55 in 4 weeks, not much else got done that month. A year later I spent a week making it look better, since then I've spent a week here and a week there on it.

I did my extended cab 59 pickup in 3 weeks, and later spent a week making it look better (different bed, two tone primer).

How many hours do you have making whoopy? I don't keep track of that either but both are fun for me.:D In both cases don't keep track of what it costs or the amount of time to get it done. Just enjoy the experience.

I don't even want to think about trying to add up the hours. Shit, it took me three full days just to make the motor mounts!

  20. I don't even want to know how many hours I have in a car. When its done it's done.... and I have never really finished one ! I have always sold them before they were "done".
