Finally, after months of phone calls and promises that the parts would be in the mail I received the re-chromed WSW pieces from Progressive yesterday. They came out worse than when I dropped them off. Retainer tabs broken off, pitted, and bent. As some of you who have been following my 49 Buick sedanette build know, this comes on top of the two ruined SS side pieces they were straightening and polishing. They filed and/or buffed right through the peak on the trim.

I'm responsible for the decision to use them, trying to support a local business, but lesson learned.

I hate these stories. Hard to believe the quality of work some businesses turn out. I think the name of the place would have scared me away. Good luck finding replacements.

Does PPI offer their service at a cut rate price?

In the past I have shopped price when looking for a chrome plater and was shocked at what I got for trying to save money,I ended up paying to have the parts re-plated.

Steve at Advanced Plating does my work now!

Remember Ben Franklin's old adage," The bitterness of poor quality is remembered long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten." HRP

I have used Advanced for most of my replating and SS work. Progressive had been in business for several generations and I had seen some good quality work and thought they could give me good results with a shorter turn around. I only took two SS trim pieces to them (I had two spares) and 3 small pieces for re-chroming. HRP, you could say it was a test of what kind of work they were now turning out under latest family member to run the company. So, now I know not to take them any more work and so does the rest of HAMB. Public Service announcement.

Hey Fat47, My father currently has a deuce headlight bar at Shelbyville Plating. Expecting to get it back in a few weeks. I'll pm you how it turns out and pricing. They were recommended from some of our rodder friends out of Cincy.

Sorry to hear about the bad service. These are cases where it always helps to take before picture of all the parts you sent. Front and rear or multiple view. Just to have for record.
hopefully there is someone there that will make it right.
