I waited out tech week to post this (as hard as it was)...
Are there any other HAMBers going to Gene Winfield's chop class on April 29th and 30th 2006 at his shop in CA? I really want to go but I'm not sure I'll get anyone from around here to go, so I just wondered if there would be any familiar faces from the HAMB out there. I would also any appreciate any tips on where to stay, things to see etc. I plan on going out a few days early and staying for a couple days after since I am going all the way out there from Ohio.
    Thanks:D

I was up in Mojave to pic up parts a hamber brought down from Colorado for me, There isn't much to see in that town, just a plane graveyard.

Good luck at the school, hope you find something to do. :)

I'm sure that I will have a great time. It isn't that far from LA right? I will probably hang out at the beach the days before and after and also go to the Petersen to visit a car that used to be in my car before it went on display there. I'm just excited to leave Ohio.....

JUST a plane graveyard? As a midwesterner, that sounds pretty damn cool...

I agree about the plane graveyard---If you didn't drive out they probably will not let you bring bomber seats back on the plane.:D

  7. I wanted to go, I have 2 tickets to fly anywhere in the states and this would be perfect. I emailed 2 guys from his site trying to find dates and seeing if i could get a spot in the class..

Can you just show up and they'll let you in? or is there a waiting list

I went to the last one. It is a bit of a drive to L.A. I wouldn't plan on driving back and forth to Mojave from there much. There is not much to do in Mojave. Gene does have a big clean up at his shop the couple days before. He also has a bunch of projects going on. If you show up early he will let you help out. The nights of the class, we went out to dinner with Gene. I am thinking about heading back out again. You need to register for the class by calling the shop. There was about 7 HAMBers there last time. There were a few "girls" in the class last time also. They had a good time. Gene does jump around a bit. He will show you a bunch of stuff in the two days. PM for my contact info, if you want some hotel numbers and more detail....I have the new flier for the class. Too much to type. EVILT... Jason.

the date is April 29 and 30th at his shop in Mojave. I have the number in my shop, I'll post it for you later today or tomorrow. I think it would really be a good time.

If you want to go hang out at the beach in bikinis I'm cool with that, but I dont think you want to see me in a bikini. That would be some scarry shit. :)

Seriously, good luck on the class. I'm going to try to get in some classes next year when my life settles down some.

I am definitely up for some down time doing that. I haven't been out to CA for awhile and the east coast ocean just isn't quite the same. plus you can't really surf good anywhere out here. I guess I figured I would make it into a little mini vacation, with my welding helmet as my carry on :D
