  1. Thanks, I've always been interested in this kind of work. I'll watch you learn by doing and maybe learn something too.

To better understand this build can we go back to the start? Did you look at this car and somehow see what you have going on now? Many people might buy it for the grille cross bar and teeth, but it takes someone with special vision to see a sectioned convertible under that paint work. Bob

Simply stated, this isn't Instagram or You Tube where you measure your "success" or "popularity" with 'followers', 'likes' and 'view' count. There's no trophies on the HAMB. Think of it as a bunch of friends meeting in a shop to work one's car or meeting in a casual get together to simply share in their love of our mutual attraction of Rods and Customs.
You have 67 comments on 2750 views. Figure for every comment you receive, there's another 45 people reading your thread, which is about right as most HAMB viewers seem to seldom post.

Having said that, I love your project and following along on the build. You're doing a great job! Love the subject matter. The lines remind me of a 54 Chevy.

You've got some nice work going there. My shop doesn't stay that clean and organized while working on a project!

We do to have trophies, or at least Trophy Points. Nobody knows how you get them or what to do with them once you have them, but we got 'em.

We don't need no stinking "likes" around here. Just one big hot rod/custom lovin' family. We just need pics. Lots and lots of pics. They're like meth to us. Gimme, gimme, gimme. I can make you feel good for a couple dash board shots, man (scratch, scratch, twitch).

Like The37Kid said, not everyone has the vision to see what this kind of mod can do for a certain car. You obviously have the vision. While I would never do it (my interests lie more in the performance area of car mods), I sure do appreciate the talent and ambition it takes to do this. Nice work, keep the photos coming!

I managed to find some old photos of the car when I started it. I bought the car to remove the roof. I've had chopped cars before so this time I wanted a convertible. I got the whole car about 90% done, before I got bored with it. I had been doing research on sections for awhile. I fell in love with the way sections make the car look, and not many people do them any more. So I figured I'd give it a try. You always wonder where a thread like this is going but it is obvious that you have far more metal work experience than the first post let on to. I like what I see so far and I'm going to follow this one to see where it goes.

That is awesome, taking 4 inches out of the middle!

You make it look so easy, but you have come to the right place for this kind of work!

    Regarding taillights, how about these
    ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1467485237.990459.jpg

They are early Volvo 122. They look like the Chevy 54, but smaller.

I like those lights. Are they yours? It's not too hard, just gotta figure out what you wanna do and how. Then do it. There is problems in every single step, all you gotta do is figure out each one. Who woulda thought cutting a car in half would make so many problems?

20160602_182731.jpg Update. 4 inches removed. Tacked, and clamps removed. Lined up all the way around. Door jams are gonna fight me. But I'll figure that out when I get there.

How are you dealing with the inherent metal shrinkage? Are you mig or oxy acetylene welding?Welding low crown panels are a B@#$ch!

Takes a lot of dedication to take on a job like this. There never was many cars sectioned, I guess the work involved was too much for the average Joe. The short stogy Desoto is going to have lines like a Caddy now, long and low!

20160609_164356.jpg Got the trunk area a little better. I'm not worried about finishing it near the taillights, I'm going to cut those out. I also have to go get smaller tires for the rear.

  30. I'm not really a Kustom car guy, more into '30's hotrods,
but I really admire the no fear attitude it takes to cut the hell
    out of something.
You obviously know metal and bodywork, the results so far show that.
    I'm in,
