Appreciate the response, the roadster is specific. Ron

  6. Is it possible that you have the hinges flipped side for side?

  7. The front part of the hinge looks backwards to me...is the bend supposed to go forward so as to close up the door gap?

The bent side of the hinge goes in the cowl and the diagonal bend determines what side it goes on.

John, please note that the "bent" side is in the cowl. The bend line does match the cowl line. Ron

  10. The pictures show the lower drivers side hinge on my '31 RDPU.

What Charlie shows is the driver's side which confirms the proper orientation of my p***enger's side hinge. Still provides no clue to my issue. Appreciate the input. Ron

Beware the HAMB misinformation. What you have is a reproduction Model A hinge. They need considerable adjustment (reshaping) to work properly. Please compare yours to stock 30 A hinge shown. AH hinge1.jpg hinge2.jpg

From your picture, and no description, I don't see what issue you are having. What is the hinge or the door or the cowl doing or not doing?
If the gaps are wrong, you have to bend/form the hinges.
Better pics or better description of what you are trying to do will get better answers.

My buddy has a similar issues with his 29 roadster. He had to come and look at my 28. He said he had Brookville hinges and went home to work on them some.

Acey, both you and Bob have provided the help I needed. Your pictures show what must be done. I'll get another repop set of hinges and reshape them per your guidance before paint. I knew quality information would be mixed in with the guesses and post increasers. Thanks, Ron

sorry if I posted a wrong reply - I bought repo's after not finding any....they just didn't work out....bought an original cowl on that "site" and had a buddy pick it up in Wisconsin just for those side hinges...try working on a 30/31 cabriolet....they're real fun....

I was going to mention you're a thankless ***** for taking shots at guys trying to help you when the question was so vague, but I changed my mind.

Shifter, you've nailed me on several counts. Its been said that I was such a ***** that I had to stretch a condom over my head to get in the uniform of the day. Probably correct.
As for my approach to requesting information, it worked. As I knew some people would "try" to help. I was targeting the people or person who could recognized the issue and offer a knowledgeable remedy.
Perhaps if I can dissuade some responders from the " I think" or "maybe" or other shots in the dark, the requested information could flow more freely. Warmest Regards, Ron

The original hinges from my '30 Roadster - Cowl Side. I've got some work to do on them, but note how shallow the bend is on the bottom ones. This counts as working on the project, right? Bob DSCF3346.JPG DSCF3348.JPG DSCF3347.JPG

Bob, using your edge pictures and Acey's installed photos I feel confident that the lower right side cowl hinge portion jogs forward slightly then curves a bit back towards the door, then parallels the door hinge portion.
Really appreciate your time and effort helping me through this. In fairness to other involved HAMBers I'll do a photo essay of the reproduction part adjustment. Ron

Bert's Model A may have some original ones. Give them a call and see if they might have any. Fantastic bunch of guys to deal with and great aftermarket parts as well as a huge boneyard of original parts
